All of the Captain Toad levels from ''[[Super Mario 3D World]]'', as well as the levels in the Wii U version of ''Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker'' that are based on ''Super Mario 3D World'', are in the Nintendo Switch version as hidden code. Additionally, there are several test levels, as well as new ones unique to the Nintendo Switch version, most are in a fully playable state. The Nintendo Switch version of ''Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker'' has nearly half of its levels inaccessible:<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oCk-HFeza8 Nearly HALF Captain Toad's Levels are UNUSED!] - SKELUX</ref>
The SM3DW stages were originally planned to return as stages. While reportedly functioning on CTTT for Switch, the Nintendo 3DS's technical specifications made it difficult to properly incorporate the 4 into CTTT for Nintendo 3DS, as well as other stages with SM3DW models such as Super Bell Hill.[2] Shigeru Miyamoto stated in his collection, Thoughts About Making the Video Games 2, that they even went as far as disabling effects such as gravity and removing joints in attempt to get the SM3DW working. Since Shigeru wished for both games to have identical rosters, the SM3DW were ultimately removed from it:<ref>[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oCk-HFeza8 Nearly HALF Captain Toad's Levels are UNUSED!] - SKELUX</ref>
