Volcanoes[1] are objects appearing in New Super Mario Bros. 2. They are hills made up of slope tiles with distinct red crusts, and if a Bob-omb explodes near the red crusts, they disintegrate and release coins. Only four volcanoes appear in World 2-B, though one in the level's underground area must be destroyed in order to obtain the level's second Star Coin.
Volcanoes are not to be confused with the volcanoes in the background of World 6-1 that erupt volcanic debris.
