“Although the symbol for Ireland worldwide is the Irish Harp, in people's hearts the Shamrock represents Ireland just as well. Actually a cloverleaf, a shamrock is an emerald-green plant, its three leaflets in a group. Searching for an unusual four-leaf clover to bring good luck is a popular children's game. The "wearing of the green," an Irish tradition both in Ireland and in America, comes from the practice of putting a shamrock in an empty buttonhole.”
Pamphlet, Mario is Missing!

The O'Connell Street Lamppost is a particular lamppost on O'Connell Street in Dublin. In the DOS version of Mario is Missing!, a Koopa Troopa steals a shamrock from it, forcing the entire street to close. Luigi must track down the shamrock and return, proving that it is the particular one they lost by answering the following questions:

  • Wearing a bit of green will bring a person:
    • good luck
    • poison ivy
    • money
    • funny looks
  • The shamrock is actually part of the _____ plant:
    • poison ivy
    • clover
    • milkweed
    • Irish sunflower
