Usage in Super Mario Bros. Articles

Why is this being used in place of a 4 in the final level's section header in all the Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels world articles? I've checked the NES versions, Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Bros. DX and none of them use a fortress icon or even the word "fortress" to refer to the fourth level of a world; they all use "_-4". Why would this be used instead of simply typing a 4? Every mention outside of the header in those articles already uses a 4 anyway.--vellidragon 18:19, 20 September 2011 (EDT)
