It consisted of a series of qualifying rounds which determined 16 teams that would compete in a separate season. | The '''''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'' Open Team Championship''' was a follow-up to the ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'' National Battle Team Open Tournament. Held in Shanghai on August 1, 2021, it was divided into two sessions: a friendly match that occurred between 17:00 and 19:00 CST, and the main final which began at 19:00 CST. The teams that competed in the event were named CCH, Boo2, HYG, and LNH. Teams HYG and LNH battled for the championship, while CCH and Boo2 competed in the third-place match. The event was presented by e-sports commentators Píngguǒ, Kěn shū, and Yan Zijing GwAwa, and was broadcast live officially on several platforms including {{wp|Tencent Video}}, Bilibili, {{wp|DouYu}}, {{wp|Huya Live}}, {{wp|Kuaishou}}, and {{wp|WeChat}}.
