Merluvlee is a fortune teller and Merlon's granddaughter in the game Paper Mario. She lives (along with her younger brother Merlow) in a large house on Shooting Star Summit and travelers who visit her can pay money to have her look into her ball. With her abilities, she can help locate Badges, Star Pieces, and Super Blocks. Although her face is hidden under a cloak, Goombario claims that she is extremely beautiful and seems to have a crush on her. It should also be noted that this Merluvlee said "My, my..." excessively as a catchphrase.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, she can be found in Rogueport Sewers. Although she looks different than before, she will still offer the same services (though also featuring Merlon's Paper Mario ability of showing Mario what he should do next), and various characters still claim that she is beautiful under her veil. This Merluvlee may, in fact, be a different Merluvlee than the one in Paper Mario. This is because Wonky states there is a fortune-telling clan that names its members after their role in the clan. Perhaps the name "Merluvlee" indicates a certain role or ability one performs in the clan.

Merluvlee was also prominently featured in the main story of the fifth issue of Rogueport Direct Mail in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which stated that she had previously been taken to an unnamed hospital, followed by several concerned fans. Fortunately for her and her fans, Merluvlee had apparently merely suffered from indigestion after eating too many Shroom Steaks, at which she stated that her "aura was brimming with the power of steak". The story of Merluvlee's indigestion ended with the writer pondering how Merluvlee was unable to predict the "gastrointestinal adventure" in the first place. She is additionally mentioned in Lumpy's journal, which states that it was she who told the hopeful Ratooey where he could succeed in digging for oil; the fact that Lumpy's adventures incorporated several Paper Mario elements makes it uncertain whether the Merluvlee referred to was that of Paper Mario or Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Merluvlee also plays a more major role in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door's plot as the apparent "Rogueport fortune teller" who told General White that finding Mario would allow his life's dreams to be fulfilled.
