They appear in the levels [[The Desert Mystery]], KO Arena [[Sunbaked Skirmish]], [[Another Uncharted Area: Swaying Ruins]], and [[Sunbaked Desert Special Pole Block Allure]]. Their identity is unknown, but they are believed to be related to [[Trompette]]s due to their long head, and their English name comes from "mummy",<ref name=WonderSekai14/> as well as being a pun on "mumsy", an endearing term for a mother.

They can be bounced on, and cannot be defeated by [[Ground Pound]]s (unless the player is in [[Drill Mario|Drill form]]). Other ways they can be defeated are by being hit by other enemies, or getting crushed by a moving platform.
