The reason I said Rudnicki is because a new 'nicki sockpuppet appeared on the forums last night, named "Kuriboomba". And, all of the vandals that appeared in the past 30 mins or so were all named for Goombas. Here's a thread that Rudnicki made last night: Clickie. Have you tried checking the chatroom if there's any sysops in there? I can't access darkmyst right now for some reason, and it would help if you could contact a sysop as to get the sockpuppets blocked. Garlic Man Chatroom seems the quickest way.

So, the purpose of this is that I couldn't find on teh interwebs any kind of list of how to pronounce Pokemon names. Many of them cause confusion and conflict among fans ( "Nah-ah! Why do ya think it's got that letter in it, punk!?" ), and I happen to be a big Pokemon fan (I don't mean I'm big myself, I mean my level of support is "big"...). For those who have never read a dictionary, the dashes in the names are the syllables, and the italic segment is where the emphasis is usually placed when spoken. Oh, and if you're not a Pokemon fan but I've put this on your page, it's because I want to see if people who are unfamiliar with the names have different ways of pronouncing the names. So, please help me by responding! How to Respond: If you're lazy and/or time-restricted, you may just reply by choosing the possible pronunciation you think for each one and making a quick list of all of them. However, I will greatly appreciate it if you write comments about ones that you have interesting reasons for or whatever. I like comments. Dom (Talk) Pokedex No. Name Possible Pronunciations 26. Raichu Ry-choo (as in "my" - ry) or Ray-choo, although I'm very sure it's the first one. 82. Magneton Mag-nee-ton (as in "knee, wee, Wii) or Mag-net-on (as in "put the magnet on...") 92. Gastly Gahst-lee (as in "fast wee") or Gast-lee (as in "gas" said by itself - it is a Gas Pokemon after all...) 94. Gengar Haha, it's like Jenga. Could be Jen-ghar or Ghen-jar (hard G) or something else (even 2 soft G's ?) . The second version sounds weird to me, though. 130. Gyarados Is it dos (as in "boss") or dose ? Some guy I talked to said Gyaradose as in "a dose of medicine", which made me wonder. 144. Articuno Art-ic-uno as in "uno, dos, tres" (numbers) or Art-i-cyuno as in "you know Articuno") 175. Togepi So many possibilities. Is the G a hard or soft-sounding one, and is it pi as an "me", or pie - as in "my pie made me cry out my eye, I think I might die" - and that's just for starters on this Pokemon name. 190. Aipom Could be Eye-pom as in "that's my bomb, you Aipom!" or Ay-pom as in "hey Tom" 243. Raikou Either Ray-koo as in "I'll pay you" or Ry-koo as in "I like oo" (don't say that to a girl with your mouth full...) 245. Suicune I really hate this one. The name looks like "suicide", so it could be Soo-iss-oon, or Soo-i-kune, but I've heard people say Swee-kyoon, which sounds much better. So, which do you think? 249. Lugia Is the G a hard or soft sound? With a soft G, it sounds like Luigi!!! Me and my Pokefriend have a dispute over this one. 251. Celebi I'm very sure the C is soft not hard, but is it Sel-e-by , or Sel-e-bee ? The bee one or the pie one? 377-9. Regi Trio Regirock, Regice and Registeel. ("what about me?" - Regigigas) Is the "regi" part pronounced Reg-ee or Reg-eye ? Oh, and I'm very sure it's a soft G sound no matter what. But I may be wrong... 382. Kyogre Is it Ky-og-re as in "why Ogre?" or Kee-og-re as in "he Ogre" ? 384. Rayquaza Ray-kwar-za or Ray-quazz-a ? I'm pretty sure it's the first one. 386. Deoxys Is it Dee-oak-seez or Dee-ock'-seez ? The first one sounds like "the oak trees." BTW, it's a DNA Pokemon; its name is based on "deoxyribonucleic acid" which DNA stands for. 411. Bastiodon Here you go, Palkia47! Could be Bass-chyo-don as in "I'm Sebastian Don" , or Bass-ty-o-don as in "try it on" 438. Bonsly First, note that it is a Bonsai Pokemon, based on a species of very small tree by that name. In the movie The Karate Kid, the kid called Daniel learns how to... ... ... ... ... um, where was I? Anyway, is it Bonz-lie as in "Don's tie" or Bonz-lee as in "Don's tea" ? I'm pretty sure it's the first one, due to the species it is, and the sound Bonsly makes when it appears out of a Poke Ball in Brawl. (go and listen to it in Main Menu > Data > Sound Effects > Poke Ball) 466. Electivire Is it El-ect-iv-ire as in "elect a wire" or El-ect-iv-ear ... as in "elect a fear" ? My Pokefriend says the second one, but I argue that it could be the first because "wire" sounds right as it is an Electric Pokemon, and it has 2 wire things that it attacks with. (google it for an image) 484. Dialga My Pokefriend says Dee-al-ga as in "me alga" but I say Dy-al-ga ... as in "Die alga!" My basis is that it sounds better and the name is probably based on the word 'dial' in relation to Time, as Dialga controls time itself. 487. Giratina Is it Guy-rat-in-a as in "My rat in a..." or Gir-a-teen-a as in "[I don't] give a wiener!" ? 493. Arceus ZOMG, the god of Pokemon, Creator of the Pokemon Universe! Anyway... is it Arss-ee-us , which sounds funny here because that's how we pronounce "ass" (which we spell as "arse") , or is it Ark-ee-us , as in "Bark, Ee-us!" Well, the Rocky (Denver's Newspaper) did an article about Obama, just random facts about him and whatnot. One of the facts said that they claimed was true was that he had a citizenship in both the US and Kenya. Now, they checked their sources and stuff, and they printed the article (online, I think). The next day, they get a ton of emails by people who were PO'd at the fact. By now, you should realize that to run for president, you must only be a citizen of the US. So people got really annoyed and the Rocky was humiliated. Turns out, the source that they got the "fact" from was an internet movie database. So the whole thing really sucked. :P InfectedShroom.

Yeah, same newspaper that did the Obama mix-up. Odd that I didn't hear about it, though. Maybe I was on vacation... InfectedShroom.
