Wiggler makes its first playable Mario Kart appearance in Mario Kart 7. It takes on a design similar to its design from Mario Power Tennis and Mario Super Sluggers, but notably has one fewer body segment, with four arms and two feet. Its lower pair of arms hold the steering wheel, and its top pair of arms spread out when it gets a speed boost. If Wiggler is being played as, and gets hit with an item or runs into an obstacle, it will get angry and turn red temporarily, though this does not affect gameplay. This extended animation is unique to Wiggler within the entire Mario Kart series. Wiggler also enters its angry red form during its losing animation. Like Donkey Kong and Rosalina, Wiggler is a part of the Cruiser weight class, and as a result, its speed, weight, and off-road stats get an above average boost. Wiggler is unlocked by placing first in the 150cc Leaf Cup. Wiggler reuses its artwork from Mario Super Sluggers; this creates an inconsistency as it only has one pair of arms and five segments in its artwork but has two pairs of arms and four segments in-game.

Big Wigglers return as obstacles in Wii. They jump when they get hit by a Star or a Bob-omb.
