Template:Level Yold Desert is an area in Lineland from Super Paper Mario. Throughout the desert, the Ancients left clues on how to advance and eventually reach the Yold Ruins deep within the sandy wasteland. The name "Yold" is a combination of "ye" (old way of saying "the") and "old", and the language of the Yold Signposts is Early Modern English. This level is notable for having the first boss battle in the game, against O'Chunks.

Chapter 1-3: The Sands of Yold

Following his adventures with Red and Green of Yold Town, Mario found himself in the Yold Desert. The heat made him weary, yet he pushed onwards. The desert was covered in quicksand and the spikeless living stones, Bald Clefts. Not much occurred through the desert voyage, though Mario encountered many new enemies such as Boomboxers and Jawbuses.

After learning from a statue of Fracktail to jump ten times while beneath a red palm tree (similar to the puzzle when Mario had to walk around one in Dry Dry Outpost in Paper Mario), Mario encountered none other than Count Bleck's burliest minion, O'Chunks. After he's defeated, Mario advanced to the next area.

Eventually after following the guidance of one or two additional statues, Mario found a blue platform. After the player presses the One Button and Minus Button buttons at the same time when Mario is on the platform, the entrance to the Yold Ruins was revealed in the form of a slider puzzle. Interestingly, the opening of the gate is similar to that of the Hawkmouths from Super Mario Bros. 2.
