Template:Minigame-infobox Piranha Patch is a Free-for-All minigame featured in Mario Party 9. The concept this minigame is very similar to that of Flower Shower from Mario Party 5.

Introduction

A single flower bud blooms into a pink flower. The camera then zooms out to show the entire field.

Gameplay

Players try to earn the highest score by collecting flowers while avoiding Piranha Plants.

Buds will appear before they become flowers. Gold flowers are worth three points, and are much rarer than pink flowers, that are worth one point each. Hitting a Piranha Plant will cause the competitor to lose a point. Piranha Plants, pink flowers, and gold flowers all grow from the same bud. Flowers will disappear five seconds after sprouting, while Piranha Plants disappear only three seconds after sprouting. Players move more slowly in the tall grass section of the playing field. The game ends after 30 seconds.

This minigame also appears in Perspective Mode. In it, the camera is zoomed in on the player, which makes it harder to see if there are any flower buds nearby.
