Template:Minigame-infobox Sock it to Lakitu is a Boss minigame in Mario Party 9.

Introduction

The Lakitu flies from the sky, spins around and pulls out a Spiny Egg and throws it onto the field with all the players.

Gameplay

The players must run around the field, hitting blocks that appear in groups of three. The blocks cycle between four images: a Bullet Bill, two Bullet Bills, three Bullet Bills, and a Spiny Egg. New blocks will not spawn until all three of the existing blocks have been hit.

The images indicate what the block will release if it is hit at that moment; Bullet Bills will be launched into Lakitu, earning the player who fired them a point for every hit, while Spiny Eggs will hatch into Spinies that wander in a random direction before falling off the edge of the field. If a player hits a Spiny, they'll lose a point.

Initially, Lakitu himself will hover out of the players' reach, occasionally throwing Spiny Eggs onto the field to try and prevent players from reaching the blocks. Once his health is half gone, he will start throwing larger Spiny Eggs that hatch into equally large Spinies. Not only are these super-sized Spinies harder to evade, but they also deduct two points from any player that hits one.

When Lakitu's health is depleted, the player who landed the final blow gets an extra three points; if more than one player delivered the finishing blow, they will all receive the bonus. The player who finishes the battle with the most points is the winner.

Ending

Once the last Bullet Bill hits Lakitu, he is flung into the sky with his cloud, releasing a bunch of Mini Stars.
