A Yarn Ball is the equivalent of a Yoshi Egg from most Yoshi games. It is found in Yoshi's Woolly World only. Yarn Balls can be thrown to create pipes, attack enemies, and retrieve items. They can be obtained when a Yoshi eats an enemy, or hits an Egg Block.

The color of a Yarn Ball depends on enemy Yoshi swallowed. For example, after eating a red Shy Guy, the yarn ball will be red, and after eating a Boo Guy, the yarn ball will be white, etc. Yarn Balls from Egg Blocks, however, are randomly colored.
