It has been requested that more images be uploaded for this article. Remove this notice only after the additional image(s) have been added. Reason: Their appearance in the Mario Bros. minigame in inventory and as loose cards
- This article is about the cards in Super Mario Bros. 3. For the objects in Pinball, see Card (Pinball). For the items in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series also known as "cards", see Mini Mario Card. For other kinds of cards, see Category:Cards.
- Not to be confused with Cards.
Cards are collectibles found at a goal in Super Mario Bros. 3. The player acquires one out of a roulette every time a course is cleared; the pictures depicted are Mushrooms, Flowers, and Stars. Once three cards are collected, the player is given a 1-Up prize: one if they do not match, two if they are Mushrooms, three if they are Flowers, and five if they are Stars.
Cards can also be obtained via the 2 Player Game, specifically upon initiating the Mario Bros. competitive game. Hitting the other player from the floor below like an enemy, stomping on them, or using the POW Block while they are on a floor shakes a card out of them, and it proceeds to bounce around until it is reclaimed, stolen, or lost. In the boxes and ladders bonus stage, it is possible to get a fourth type of card, which looks like a flame. This glitched card can award many lives in combination with other cards but can also crash the game.[1][2][3]
Cards also appear with a different function in an N-Mark Spade Panel. They show various items in a card-matching setup, and matching two cards automatically adds that item to the inventory. Flipping two unlike cards twice or getting all 18 correct ends the diversion.
In Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, cards from the ends of levels are renamed panels in-game; however, the ones from the N-Mark Spade Panel minigame are still referred to as cards.
