It can be bought from [[Castle Town Item Shop]] after [[Mom Piranha]] is defeated for fifty [[coin]]s, as well as from [[Little Fungitown Item Shop]] as soon as it opens for the same price. A few enemies have a chance of dropping it: [[Bob-omb]]s have a 19.35% chance, undamaged [[Mecha-Chomp]]s have a 12.9% chance, and [[Teehee Valley]]'s [[Gritty Goomba]]s have a 9.68% chance.

Nuts make a return in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story]]''. Just like in ''Superstar Saga'', they are able to restore twenty HP to both Mario and Luigi. [[Protobatter]]s have a 20% chance of dropping a Nut after a battle, and [[Calorite]]s have a 25% chance.

Nuts reappear in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Dream Team]]''. While they function the same, they now restore fifteen HP instead of twenty. They cost twenty coins at any of the shops. [[Thorb]]s have a 5% chance of dropping one after defeating them, and [[Bloatula]]s have a 4% chance.

Nuts in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam]]'' have the same appearance and function as they did in ''Mario & Luigi: Dream Team''.
