"Yarn Yoshi"

I believe that this is the working title. On Nintendo America's official press site, it says that the name is not final. Something to look forward to I guess :)

I don't think we should change the name, Game & Wario was a working title and we used the name. Kingfawful4321 (talk) 12:23, 24 January 2013 (EST)

Well of course we wouldn't change it if we don't know the final name yet :P

Indeed.ಠ_ರೃ Kingfawful4321 (talk) 10:22, 25 January 2013 (EST)

Actually, if you look at the original press release (alternate link) the only time they use the phrase "Yarn Yoshi" it isn't italicized like the other game titles. This doesn't appear to be the current working title. Deezer (talk) 11:08, 27 January 2013 (EST)

Is it just me or Yoshi is HUGE at this picture? http://www.mariowiki.com/File:YYWiiU2.png (compare the size of the arrow sign with this picture http://www.mariowiki.com/File:YY-Shy_Guy_Screenshot.png) It's what it looks like :O

Comparing Yoshi with the Shy-Guy, I think he does somehow become huge.:'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 20:00, 28 January 2013 (EST)

Maybe if he eat of enough Shy Guys. He becomes giant. Kingfawful4321 (talk) 20:00, 7 February 2013 (EST)

Playable characters

Is this really needed, I mean isn't it obvious that you're going to be able to play as Yoshi? I mean his name is in the title Yoshi876 (talk)

2.5D?

What is 2.5D? Chaossy (talk) 13:01, 15 March 2013 (EDT)

2.5D (two-and-a-half-dimensional) is graphical art style with 2D and 3D elements. For example Donkey Kong Country Returns and New Super Mario Bros. U are 2.5D games, characters moves in 2D while the backgrounds are 3D.

Yoshi's three-dimensional form

Yoshi actually becomes an "amigurumi crochet form", not an "all-knitted form". He is definitely not knitted, but amigurumi crochet. :)

Cancelled!?

I wonder that Nintendo has showed no info. in this game! That either means they thought it was to early to be revealed or it's cancelled. CRode (talk)

They said it was too early to show for E3, can't imagine it's the top of their priorities. Yoshi876 (talk)
Wait a while: they could be completely revamping due to the negative comments it received when it was first revealed.

Not cancelled & new name!

I e-mailed Nintendo to see if the Yoshi game was cancelled and here's what I got:

Hi, I have a question: Last year, Yarn Yoshi for Wii U was announced on a Nintendo Direct. We haven't heard about it since. Was it cancelled or replaced by Yoshi's New Island? Thanks.

Hello, thank you for contacting Nintendo; I apologize for the delayed response to your email. I am happy to hear that you are excited for the release of a new Yoshi game. The game you were inquiring about is actually titled Yoshi Wii U. Yoshi Wii U has been officially announced for release, but hasn't been given a release date yet.

Then they go on to talk about the Game Guide on their website to find more information about the game when it becomes available. YoshiCookie (talk) 10:15, 10 December 2015 (EST)

And that's all the evidence? Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 00:14, 1 April 2014 (EDT)
But the name appears provissionaly as Yarn Yoshi in the Supplementary Information about Earnings Release in January 2013 by Nintendo.co.jp! The Mushroom Kingdom explains it! And in Japanese is named Yarn Yoshi too (毛糸のヨッシー, Keito no Yoshi)!--77.228.198.87 09:26, 1 April 2014 (EDT)
The title could've changed since December and NoA is shown to change game titles from the original Japanese. (i.e. Mario Story becomes Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion 2 became Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon"). I know it doesn't seem like a final title at first, but we've had plenty like it in the past (many Mario Kart games were Mario Kart <console>). YoshiCookie (talk) 10:15, 10 December 2015 (EST)
This more recent document (January 2014) shows the provisional name of Yarn Yoshi for the U.S., Europe and Japan, and says it has a tentative date of TBD. Also, indicates that names and release date are subject to changes, and also subject to changes between countries.

So, what's the verdict? I'm leaning more toward "Yarn Yoshi" since getting your evidence from (automated) informal letters from Nintendo sounds sketchy to me. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:46, 2 April 2014 (EDT)
Erm, the international title which was provided in the official press release was Yarn Yoshi. I'd wait for the next public statement from the Horse's Mouth: not an independant e-mail, before making significant changes such as this. But thats just me: feel free to continue your banter.
'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 07:55, 3 April 2014 (EDT)
But I don't agree with it, and I'd like to move it back because the burden of proof falls on the person who made the changes... and the person isn't lifting it well. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 19:33, 3 April 2014 (EDT)
So while all this was going on, I thought I would also e-mail Nintendo (the address is Nintendo Consumer Service, noa@nintendo.com), and this is the reply I received: "Hello, (my name). Thank you for your patience awaiting a response during this busy time of year. I sincerely apologize for the delay as we have been experiencing high email volumes recently. To answer your question, the recently announced Yoshi game for the Wii U is currently labeled Yoshi Wii U (Working Title). This will be subject to change as the development on this game continues. When an official title is selected, the details will be posted on our website, so I encourage you to check back regularly for any available updates. Thank you again for your time and patience. Sincerely, Nintendo of America Inc. Teresa Fisher" Mario4Ever (talk) 15:31, 10 April 2014 (EDT)
