A Cloud Block is a block mainly used as the ground for bonus areas above the ground. They first appeared in Super Mario Bros. in world 2-1, in the bonus area accessed by hitting the secret beanstalk halfway in the level. The cloud blocks in this game look similar to Lakitu's Cloud. When they appeared in Super Mario Maker, it was possible to destroy them with Thwomps, Bowser, or Skewers.
