Poison is a type of deadly infection which can effect a person or Mario through various means. Mostly exotic animals or enemies. There are some foods that are poisonous however. Poison is mostly used in the RPG games and rarely in other titles. Posion is a trend starting in RPG games through the Pokemon series in which it was the deadliest status effect your pokemon could take. In battle it took small damage each turn and even damage out of battle! It is also borrowed in the Mario RPG's except its missing a couple of factors. For one thing, as with all status conditions, getting poisoned is not as common as getting poisoned in Pokemon. Also poison only stays in battle and even stops after battles in some games.
