Bulbers are angler fish-like enemies that first appeared in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They only appear in World 8-4 with the same function as the Jellybeams; illuminate the way for the player. They swim freely in the water, illuminating the whole way and are always found in flocks of four or five. Although not necessary, Bulbers can be defeated by attacking a fireball, by freezing it or by running into it with a Starman. Bulbers only will hurt Mario if he touches them. Also, when a Bulber is frozen, it stops to illuminate the water and then explodes.
