Like the [[Game & Watch]], '''Mini Classics''' are a series of portable games. They have keychains, so they can be taken easily anywhere. Like Game & Watch, the game plays in black and white.
The '''Mini Classics''' are a series of LCD handheld games featuring licensed ports of {{a|G&W|l}} titles. They had only ever been released in the {{wp|Western world}}. They were created by German company Stadlbauer, and they were distributed and published by numerous other manufacturers. They are smaller than the originals and have keychains, increasing their portability. Additionally, the Mini Classics can also serve as a clock. The games are mostly identical to their original (Game & Watch) versions, although there are some subtle differences in sound effects. Their appearance is that of a small {{iw|nwiki|Game Boy Pocket}}, only missing the {{button|gb|start}}, {{button|gb|select}}, and {{button|gb|B}} buttons and the cartridge slot. They also have a stand, but it is missing in the dual-screen Mini Classics such as ''{{id|DK|G&W}}''.

*''{{id|DK|G&W}}'' (Metallic Green)
*''{{id|DKJR|G&W}}'' (Dark Green, Yellow-Green, Yellow, Orange)
*{{a|MCF|l}} (Yellow, Grey, Clear Yellow, Dark Blue)
*{{id|SMB|G&W}} (White, Blue, Green, Silver)
The ''{{a|DK}}'' model was discontinued shortly after its release, but the other three continued production into the 2000s.{{ref needed}} U.S. distribution of the handhelds seems to have ended around 2013, although they may still be available in other countries. No elements were changed with the later models, aside from sound improvements, color variations, and packaging.

It appears that there was a planned Mini Classics version of {{a|DK3|G&W}} that was canceled. It can be seen only in an old stock image, in which the game is mislabeled as ''Donkey Kong Junior''.<ref>{{cite|deadlink=y|archive=web.archive.org/web/20200806101145/https://www.forevergeek.com/get_nintendo_classic_games_on_your_keyring|title=Get Nintendo classic games on your keyring|author=Andy|date=August 5, 2009|publisher=Forever Geek|language=en|accessdate=December 30, 2024}}</ref>

All the games must be bought seperatly and notice that the games are not actually ports of the original games. They are ports of the old Game & Watch games except with updated graphics yet, as mentioned before, still black and white.

An extremely rare limited-edition gold version of {{a|SMB}} existed, of which only 99 units were ever produced. This version was available only as a gift to "Special Friends and Partners" of Stadlbauer. Each of them includes a signed letter from Dr. Dieter Stadlbauer, head of the Stadlbauer company.<ref>{{cite|url=consolevariations.com/collectibles/nintendo-game-watch-mini-classic-gold-super-mario-bros|title=Nintendo Game & Watch Mini Classic Gold {{a|SMB}}|publisher=Console Variations|language=en}}</ref>
