My primary source is this website, which is essentially a Japanese Mario wiki. http://honndana.sakura.ne.jp/mario/index.html Unfortunately, the original source for the Donkey Kong names in particular is VERY hard to find, but all the enemies are named and other names on that wiki are indeed accurate with photos I have seen of the Super Mario Land 2 guide from eBay, for instance. I have also seen the names backed up on other websites, but of course it's possible for false names to become common ones, so I was very careful to make sure that site was accurate, and as far as I can tell it really is for almost everything. It's a good source. I am assuming the original source from the names was a Japanese guide book, as with most of these things. It seems the Donkey Kong one is incredibly rare, sadly, because I would love to get ahold of it. If you happen to see it listed anywhere, let me know because it's something I could import just for the sake of confirming (helps that it's one of my favorite games). While I cannot completely 100% vouch for every name without having access to the guides myself, I do trust that site, it does not have made up names listed for any other game (as far as I've seen) so I think it is a safe bet while we lack any other alternative. There are some other sites I used for sources, I could probably dig them out if you wish. Fizzle (talk) 13:00, 26 April 2015 (EDT)

:And whaddya know, I literally gave a quick check and found some photos on eBay of a guide that does indeed use the same names. Here, for instance! I may bid on it just for full confirmation, but it seems likely that it's genuine stuff. I'd really recommend against moving things back to conjectural names just because SOME people question the source. It's not like conjectural names are any better. Not sure what the opposition to them is really about, a little bit of research would have solved the issue. Fizzle (talk) 13:37, 26 April 2015 (EDT)

::I understand the reasoning, it is hard to find Japanese names, but previously many of the enemies had generic names such as "monkey" or "crab" which would conflict with already existing articles, which can cause a lot of messed up pages and the like. I think most people will be going to the game page to find the enemy list first, so their "findability" isn't a huge issue, in the end, hopefully. Also, while I do appreciate questioning sources, I looked at the discussion you linked to about that particular source and to be honest it seemed to verify the source further in my eyes, given that it was 99% accurate with the Wario Land 4 enemy names. In this instance, I would need more examples of the source being especially wrong before writing it off. It's a very good source. There's even a Zelda equivalent that is also extremely accurate (and I say this as someone who owns almost all the Japanese Zelda guidebooks).
::Anyway, enough of my rambling, here's the other sample pages for confirmation of names. Look to the enemy boxes, the names are generally listed there, I believe. There may be a few others dotted around. Another source for names is the Japanese Virtual Console manual, which can be found in .pdf form on Nintendo Japan's own website, but this lists only the ones in the English manual as well. For future reference, this is the Hisshou Kouryakuhou guide. There is also another guide listed but I am not sure if it has any names in it or not, the pages are walls of text and I haven't recognized any listed names yet.
