The bongos Donkey Kong uses in his Final Smash are actually modeled after the actual DK Bongo controllers - a START button and DK logo can be seen in the middle of the two bongos. | The bongos Donkey Kong uses in his Final Smash are actually modeled after the actual DK Bongo controllers - a START button and DK logo can be seen in the middle of the two bongos.
Konga Beat is a reference to Donkey Kong's musical attack in Donkey Kong 64 for the Nintendo 64. The bongos play a prominent role in the Donkey Konga series for the Nintendo Gamecube, and were used as the controls for Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. In Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Donkey Kong can make similar circular waves when clapping to stun enemies. The name of the move is a reference to Donkey Konga and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. The music that plays during the Final Smash plays part of a cover version of the "DK Island Swing" song. The new timing indicator in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U is directly copied off the timing indicator in the Donkey Konga series.
