Lever Switch comes from the name of the lever object that originated in the ''Super Mario Galaxy'' games; the similar puzzle element from ''Game Boy Donkey Kong'' is only known as a "switch", and can be grabbed and shifted around rather than only hit with a star spin.

One more difference I forgot to mention earlier is that ''Donkey Kong'''s switches are exclusively designed around the control of locks and platforms, whereas the Lever Switches of the ''Galaxy'' games are more unpredictable and have a wider range of uses (and, if I recall correctly, cannot be interacted with once activated). ::Well, [[Switch]] is currently vague and [[Lever]] just redirects here. Additionally, the opening sentence of Lever Switch says "Lever Switches appear multiple times throughout the '''Mario franchise'''."
