As I update the descriptions across our infobox templates, I noticed this template is quite barren, to say the least. It has five total parameters: Title, image, purpose, first appearance, and latest appearance. The first two parameters are ubiquitous across literally every single infobox of this format (probably). The last two parameters are also well-established standards found in most of our infoboxes about recurring subjects, such as {{character infobox}} and {{location infobox}}.
That leaves this infobox with one unique parameter, "purpose", meant to convey the effects of the space on the player who lands on it. Well, our ever reliable {{item infobox}} also has an equivalent "effect" parameter which could perfectly replace this purpose. The two infoboxes on the side speak for themselves.
I don't want to immediately argue for the decommission of this infobox, however, as I am personally quite fond of having any themed color over the drab neutral gray from the item infobox. So instead I'd like to try workshopping with others (preferably people more familiar with the Mario Party series), ways to improve this infobox so it stands out from the item one. Too bad I have barely ever played Mario Party, so I wouldn't know where to even begin. — Lady Sophie_17

- I could see a parameter representing how the space affects player movement. Captain Event Spaces, Boss Battle Spaces, Special Event Spaces, Star Stage Spaces, and Challenge Areas all force the player to land on them irrespective of their roll. The Switch Space's effect triggers when the player reaches it instead of the player landing on it. ? Candy and the Star Exchange don't count against the players roll. (But ? Candy isn't a space in the one game its in, so why does it have the space infobox and category anyway?) Salmancer (talk) 21:14, May 18, 2026 (UTC)
