World 9-1 is the first level of World 9 from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. This level is sky-themed and is unlocked by collecting all of the Star Coins in World 1. The level uses the background of World 1-5 and plays the athletic theme. This level also contains numerous multi-colored blocks akin to World 7-1. Like all levels in World 9, there is no midway point.

World 9-1 is an athletic level that is similar to World 7-1. The level contains a number of spinning rectangle platforms around the level.
Although this stage is unlocked for World 1, the layout is similar to World 7-1 There are lots of spinning rectangle platforms around the level. Also appearing is a big L shaped (also spinning) platform. Like all World 9 levels, there is no checkpoint, making it difficult to traverse the level. Koopa Paratroopas are the main enemy in this stage.

The level begins with some Koopa Paratroopas, along with a ? Block above a pit. A section with Goombas and Koopa Troopas follows, along with another Koopa Paratroopa. The first spinning rectangle platform is found, followed by two more with ? Blocks with Koopa Troopas on them floating above. A Koopa Paratroopa is found, along with a yellow rectangular platform and three Koopa Paratroopas. More spinning platforms are found, along with multiple Koopa Paratroopas flying in between. A section of ground with a Koopa Paratroopa is found, followed by a spinning platform and two Venus Fire Traps. More spinning platforms with Venus Fire Traps in between are found, along with two Venus Fire Traps that block the player's path. More Koopa Paratroopas are found with a spinning platform, followed by the pole.

Star Coins
Star Coins
*Star Coin 1 (pictured): The first Star Coin is floating high above a platform with a red Koopa Troopa. Mario and co. can reach it either by jumping off of one of the Koopas, or by using a Propeller Suit.
*Star Coin 1: This coin can be found after the first few rotating blocks. The player should see it when they approach three green Paratroopas in the air. The player must either use a Propeller Mushroom or bounce off of the Koopas.
*Star Coin 2: Soon after the first Star Coin, the second Star Coin is floating high above two Koopa Paratroopas and three rotating blocks. Mario and co. again must either jump off of one of the Paratroopas, or use a Propeller Suit to reach it.
*Star Coin 2: Soon after the first Star Coin, they should see the second one above a yellow block. If they jump from the green one before it while dashing, the player should be able to get it without a Propeller Mushroom.
*Star Coin 3: After the second Star Coin, there is a long green Warp Pipe with a Venus Fire Trap that leads to a secret area. Mario and co. must get on the rotating block and jump from it to a platform on the bottom right, which the third Star Coin floats over.
*Star Coin 3: The player must jump into the third green pipe after the second coin, but they must avoid the Venus Fire Trap inside. This will take them to an area with a rotating block, the Star Coin, and a Koopa Paratroopa. They must jump off of it to get to the coin.
