Hahahaha, how on Earth are these Koopa Troopas, they look nothing like any species of Troopa! Koopa yes, but Troopa no way. These look closer to Bowser's species than they do to Troopas. Note the hideous froglike face with huge Goomba-like fangs, and distinct lack of beak, which is something all game Troopas have. I suggest moving this to "Miscellaneous Koopas," because there is no official proof whatsoever that are are Koopa Troopas, and Koopeleons, which are listed as separate from Troopas, look far more like Troopas than these things do. Doc von Schmeltwick 16:38, 2 August 2017 (CT)

:I think it was added in back before Koopa Troopa and Koopa (species) sorted out their differences, and it was just never updated. They're definitely not Koopa Troopas. 17:52, 2 August 2017 (EDT)

::Going by the Japanese name, it seems more likely that they're a second attempt at a bipedal Spiny after Spikey. The somewhat sunken eye design bears resemblance, although it's a bit hard to tell for sure what they were going for with these early N64 graphics. Perhaps change it to "Spinies" since "Miscellaneous Koopas" tends to be a little more exclusive? LinkTheLefty (talk) 06:10, 26 November 2017 (EST)

:::I was actually considering bringing that up, but I decided I'd wait. So yeah, beat me to it, I was thinking the same thing, though I had forgotten about the previous attempt. I had been hoping that Key-pa-Way would be put in The Top 100 just to see if they'd be updated without being replaced, but yeah, tenuous hope for small reward I guess. To be frank though, we have as much proof these are intended to be Spinies as we do proof that Tutankoopa is intended to be a Magikoopa, ie it's highly probable, but still should probably get some community support first due to the many differences. Is this officially named?

Is this officially NEEDED? Max2 (talk)

It is named in the Key-pa-Way mini-game, and is needed because it is a species of Koopa, no matter how obscure. Pseudo-dino (talk)

Speculation

I think we should remove they are probably minions of Bowser how do we know they aren't just wild animals or something like that?Goombat 18:33, 22 December 2016 (EST)

I think it's safe to assume they're Bowser's minions, since they're Koopas and they guard a Bowser Key.

I think it was added in back before Koopa Troopa and Koopa (species) sorted out their differences, and it was just never updated. They're definitely not Koopa Troopas. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:52, 2 August 2017 (EDT)
Going by the Japanese name, it seems more likely that they're a second attempt at a bipedal Spiny after Spikey.

Spike Koopa's Japanese name is only one character off from Spiny whereas Tutankoopa's may be entirely based on Tutankhamun rather than Kamek, so I think the connection is stronger. LinkTheLefty (talk) 06:38, 26 November 2017 (EST)
