The player will have to use a bike or kart with good speed and very low weight. When they enter Bowser's Castle they need to jump on the moving floor twice. The driver will bounce up high and not come back down. Soon they will fall back down. Fall time depends on speed and if the player used mushrooms.

In [[Maple Treeway]], the player can clip the barrier on the left side of the finish line, going onto the grass out of bounds. If they drive too far on the grass, they will fall into the abyss because there is not hit detection. However, they can boost using a Mushroom to go over the cliff to clip another wall and get back on the course.

In Mushroom Gorge, if the player tricks off one of the two mushrooms at the beginning of the course, they can grind around the mountain while alternating the control stick down-left and down-right if using another controller other than the Wii Remote, and gain a lap. This is also why the first shortcut was later removed in ''[[Mario Kart 7]]''.
