Japanese Name

"Japanese: 転, taru" is what the article states. While 「樽」taru does indeed mean barrel, 転 is, to my knowledge, the kanji for "turning around" and not normally read as taru. Is there a non-standard reading being applied to 転 in this case, or does the article just use the wrong kanji?--vellidragon 00:30, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Doesn't really answer your question, but Google Translate says these three words mean the word Barrel in Japanese:

1. バレル
2. バーレル
3. 桶

The first one means Bareru, the second one is very similar, being Bāreru (note the a), but the third one is phonetically spelled as Oke. Though Oke has more translations in English. Here are them all:

1. tub
2. pail
3. bucket
4. barrel
5. vat
6. cask
7. kibble
8. piggin
9. water butt
10. container

This means that 桶 (oke) usually means a tub in English.

Strangely, they didn't include 「樽」, while translating that, you'd get "Barrel" (with apostrophes). rend (talk) (edits)

I agree. When I wrote that, I remember seeing good Wikipedia articles referencing themselves, so I thought it as an acceptable practice and applied it here too. But now I 'm aware that even Wikipedia disregards self-referencing, so what I stumbled upon was probably just an odd one out. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 07:10, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

On second thought, I think it's actually helpful for understanding that this page describes only interactive instances of generic barrels, so no DK Barrels, Blast Barrels etc. I wouldn't know how to word it better... -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 07:13, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Arcade DK Blue Barrel

I think the decal on the top/bottom of it highly resembles a skull, anyone else think that's deliberate/worth mentioning in the article? Seems to be there to show its more dangerous (since it spawns the Fire), and makes sense, as it seems to have some sort of combustible material inside. Yeah, I too think it looks like a skull, but it isn't very discernible so I am not sure. What else could that cluster of white pixels represent?
