you have enough images on that whole page that you should be able to give it it's own page gallery right? CappyThrow (talk) 18:42, 19 December 2018 (EST)

:Nah, I don't think there's enough for that. Not in the main gallery section, anyway. 19:19, 19 December 2018 (EST)

Donkey Kong or Cranky Kong?
Right now the page has "New Donk City has also been implied to be the location of the events that take place in the arcade game Donkey Kong, where Mario had to save Pauline from Donkey Kong." But the pages on Donkey Kong and Cranky Kong both say it was Cranky Kong in those games. I suggest changing it to "New Donk City has also been implied to be the location of the events that take place in the arcade game Donkey Kong, where Mario had to save Pauline from Cranky Kong (then known as Donkey Kong)." or at the very least leave the text but change the link to Cranky Kong.

:We cover that info primarily on DK's page, though. It's separation through identity/persona, if you will. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:58, November 16, 2020 (EST)
"Beginnings" vs. "History"
Moving this here to avoid further back-and-forth, I feel listing "beginnings" in reference to the canonical events of Donkey Kong, while that one line of dialogue states this, I'm a bit hesitant to include it as it is in the article, hence my use of "history" before it was altered.
It's pretty clear to me that the "beginnings" line is primarily intended to reference that the city itself is based on the arcade Donkey Kong, ultimately making it a meta joke. I dont think it was meant to imply anything deeper than "this is where the concept came from". Furthermore, the line is much more vague in Japanese, with it reading something like "you could say this is the origin of our city", I'd argue as the article is written now, it indicates it was literally founded as a result of DK kidnapping Pauline, which is not actually specified. When talking about Mario canon, the series itself plays it insanely fast and loose, so I feel it's best to leave things more vague in terms of the wording especially in regards to more meta jokes. What do others think? BubbleRevolution (talk) 14:55, May 5, 2023 (EDT)
:Your interpretation isn't reflected by the source. English says "beginnings" Japanese says "origin". We can use one of those two words, but we base it on the source.SuperMarioSuperShow (talk) 15:12, May 5, 2023 (EDT)
::The Japanese version says you COULD SAY it is, not that it necessarily definitively is. That could imply that the city existed before that and that the event merely helped shape the city into its modern state, but it's not really expanded upon so it could be either one. Plus, other sources merely say "history", which is why I used that. Ultimately it's a metatextual reference and I altered it because saying "the construction site was built up into New Donk and that's where the city was founded", which the page previously implied, feels like a massive stretch. :::Interpreting it as a stretch, doesn't change the fact that these straightforward statements from the game are crystal clear. SuperMarioSuperShow (talk) 18:11, May 5, 2023 (EDT)
::::Crystal clear in what regard? There are multiple ways to interpret the statement, be it intended to be figurative, literal, or merely just a meta joke, especially with the more ambiguous wording on the Japanese version.
