Lakeside Park is the first course of the Special Cup in Mario Kart: Super Circuit. It is set on a muddy road by a lake surrounded by forest and volcanoes. The major obstacle in this course is the two volcanoes in the background. Starting on the second lap, the sky turns darker (similar to Sunset Wilds) and the volcanoes will erupt and send Lava Boulders around the course. Its music is very similar to Riverside Park's music, albeit with a different melody.

Lakeside Park returns in Mario Kart Tour as a classic course, debuting in the Sunshine Tour.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit

The course starts out on a straightaway, followed by a U-turn to the right, a left turn, and a right turn after that. Past those turns is a left turn onto a bridge that has a crack on the right. There is an Item Box located over the crack. Past the bridge is a slight left turn that leads to a right U-turn. After that, there is a slight right turn, a left turn, then a U-turn to the left. Then there is another slight right turn, then a U-turn to the left. If the player doesn't take the turn correctly, they may hit some yellow ramps that can send them to an earlier part of the course. After the turn is a straightaway with a Dash Panel on the right, followed by a jump over an earlier part of the course. There is an abrupt left turn after the jump which leads to a U-turn to the right. After the turn is a left turn with some ramps on the right that can send the player to an earlier part of the course. There is a Dash Panel close to the ramps. Then there is a slight left-to-right turn that leads to a straightaway, which leads to the finish line.

Shortcuts

  • Before the jump, the player needs to take the Dash Panel on the right. While jumping, the player needs to turn slightly right to hit some ramps located in the water, then right again so they don't fall in the water. This leads them to the straightaway to the Finish Line.

Lakeside Park makes its classic course debut in Mario Kart Tour starting from the Sunshine Tour. The starting line includes a wooden starting banner, with the classic Mario Kart logo. Like GBA Yoshi Desert and GBA Luigi Circuit, the colored block walls follow the order they use in SNES courses, as opposed to the other GBA tracks with them. The original layout's broad strokes are the same, though the proportions are more squished vertically and elongated horizontally, and numerous turns were simplified. Part of the track has become more mountainous, with a ramp added, and the starting line and lake are noticeably closer to the first right turn of the course. The final turn after the jump has been heavily simplified, with it being less dramatic and straightened out leading into the finish line. The roadside ramps that sent players back to earlier portions of the course were removed, as were all of the dash panels besides the one on the ramp. After a set time, the sky darkens, the volcanoes erupt and Lava Balls appear, tumbling onto the course and forming many craters that players can perform Jump Boosts on. Upon entering the second lap, volcanic embers appear in the air throughout the course, though this is simply an aesthetic detail.

In a similar vein to GBA Peach Circuit and GBA Luigi Circuit in Mario Kart Tour, a restored version of the original music from Mario Kart: Super Circuit is used as its background music, although the flute was upgraded.
