'''Body Check''' is an ability used by [[Bowser]], [[Toad]], [[Wario]], [[Birdo]], [[Bowser Jr.]], [[Petey Piranha]], and [[Hammer Bro]] in ''[[Mario Superstar Baseball]]'', and it can be used by anyone in ''[[Mario Super Sluggers]]'' except [[Blooper]], [[Boo]], [[King Boo]], [[Dry Bones]], and [[Monty Mole]], who have their own close-play abilities. In ''Mario Superstar Baseball'', by rapidly pressing {{button|gcn|B}}, the runner can tackle a baseman, knocking the ball out of their hands, which makes the user safe. In ''Mario Super Sluggers'', however, it is an automatic action that occurs if the runner succeeds in a close play by pressing the correct button first.
