A Diddy & Dixie Barrel can be entered only by the [[Kong]] that it depicts, either [[Diddy Kong]] or [[Dixie Kong]]; by doing so, that Kong is blasted out from the Diddy & Dixie Barrel (the other Kong automatically follows them). If either Diddy or Dixie tries to enter a Diddy & Dixie Barrel that does not depict them, they pass straight through the barrel. Diddy or Dixie can also enter their respective Diddy & Dixie Barrel if the other Kong throws them into it via the [[team up]] ability.

A Diddy & Dixie Barrel sometimes appears at an [[End of Level Target]], and it allows the Kongs to claim a prize upon hitting a target.
