'''Bruce''' is a blue [[Bob-omb]] from ''[[Paper Mario]]''. He is first encountered alongside several other friendly Bob-ombs in the prison cell of [[Koopa Bros. Fortress]], where [[Mario]] first meets [[Bombette]]. Like the other Bob-ombs, Bruce used to work in the fortress. When the [[Koopa Bros.]] took over, they began working him and the other Bob-ombs as slaves, displeasing them. After Bombette attacked the Koopa Bros. in protest, they imprisoned her, Bruce, and the other Bob-ombs. Using Bombette, Mario eventually allowed Bruce and the other Bob-ombs (as well as his own party) to escape Koopa Bros. Fortress. It has also been confirmed that Bruce is a playable character in the Wii download version of the game. To unlock him, the player must have beaten the game four times and have been using an official Nintendo GameCube or Virtual Console controller the whole time. After this has been done, he will appear in the [[Bowser???]] room of the [[Koopa Bros. Fortress]] and offer to give Mario a break. If you accept, he will replace Mario. Bruce's attacks are virtually the same as Mario's in functionality; a normal jump and a sped-up version of Bombette's bomb move to work as a hammer. The only difference is appearance and the way that he communicates this the rest of the party and NPCs. To get Mario back into your party you must return to his house and talk to him. With this, Bruce will return to the [[Koopa Bros. Fortress]] and allow you to play as him whenever you desire, just as he did before.
