They have no arms, are not aggressive, and have no ability to attack. Wanderin' Gooms are considered "apprentice pirates."<ref name=Daijiten/> Although considered enemies in the game's manual, these creatures are extremely weak and are completely harmless. A Wanderin' Goom normally walks in a straight line, but upon coming into contact with any object, it flips onto its back. [[Wario]] can defeat these defenseless creatures any way he sees fit, including using them as weapons by throwing them at other enemies. [[Pirate Goom]]s are weapon-wielding Wanderin' Gooms that cannot be [[Dash Attack|attack]]ed from the front, and essentially replace Wanderin' Gooms in [[Wario Land II|the sequel]].

A single Wanderin' Goom appears in ''[[Game & Watch Gallery 2]]'' as one of the objects Wario has to juggle in the Modern version of ''[[Ball]]''.
