Mekabons are short robots that lived in the Muda Kingdom in Super Mario Land. When Mario comes near them, their heads come off and act like a boomerang, flying at him before coming back to reattach to the main body. They are defeated through one of two ways; either he can jump on the head and body parts separately for 100 points each, or he can wait until the head reattaches itself and then stomp on the entire Mekabon to be awarded with 400 points. It is only found in World 2-2.

They are defeated through one of two ways; either he can jump on the head and body parts separately for 100 points each, or he can wait until the head reattaches itself and then stomp on the entire Mekabon to be awarded with 400 points. They can also be defeated with the Superball Flower. They are only found in World 2-2.

In the Super Mario Land manga, a group of Mekabons attempts to stop Mario in Muda Kingdom. The first one tosses its head at Mario, making him flinch and drop all of the coins that he had just collected in a bonus area. Mario quickly defeats it, but a second one tosses its head at him. Mekakuribō arrives and does the same. The two robots end up switching heads, confusing the Mekabon. A third one is stomped on as Mario leaves the area while Mekakuribō retrieves its head off-screen.

In Super Mario-kun, a Mekabon appears in volume 3 alongside other Super Mario Land enemies, but it is only seen trying to attack Mario and is later defeated by Invincible Mario.
