The '''Dash Mushroom''', commonly called simply the '''Mushroom''', is a type of [[mushroom]] physically identical to a [[Super Mushroom]] that is used for speed boosts, especially in the [[Mario Kart (series)|''Mario Kart'' series]]. It is also used to represent the [[Mushroom Cup]].

In ''[[Mario Kart 64]]'', the Mushroom (also named '''Speed Mushroom'''<ref>{{cite|date=April 1997|title=''Nintendo Magazine System'' (AU) Issue #49|page={{file link|NMS Australia 49 MK64 drivers and items.jpg|39}}}}</ref>) returns with two new variations, the [[Triple Mushroom]], which provides three speed boosts, and the [[Golden Dash Mushroom|Super Mushroom]], which allows unlimited boosts for a short period. In this game, ramming into another racer while boosting from a Mushroom causes the opponent to spin out. In this game, the Mushroom is only a moderately common item, and cannot be obtained behind 5th place.
