Thinking that it was a donation from a fan, Mario tries it out, and discovers that it is actually a time machine, taking him to various ages in the past and future. In the meantime, Dr. Wily brainwashes the citizens of the town, including [[Yoshi]], Mario's neighbour Miss Steinbrunnen, and even [[Princess Peach|Princess Toadstool]]. Mario manages to return to the present and infiltrate his fortress, only to be caught by the evil Toadstool.
