First appearance | Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (2015) |
Variant of | Spiny |
Paper Spinies are paper forms of Spinies that appear as enemies in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. Like with their regular Spiny counterpart that also appears, Paper Spinies can curl up into a ball and roll at the player characters or will simply walk toward them. Also like their regular counterpart, Paper Spinies can only be countered with Hammers. Paper Spinies are commonly found at Doop Doop Dunes, Doop Doop Dunes Grotto, and one is fought in Neo Bowser Castle alongside a regular Spiny, a Ninji and a Paper Ninji as one of Bowser's last lines of defense.
Rare, shiny variants can also appear in place of the regular Paper Spinies in the same areas. These Spinies have greater stats and will always drop a Syrup Jar and LV 1 Character Card when defeated, though their methods of attack remain the same.
