The Claw Hammer is a Thing in Paper Mario: Color Splash. It is found in the Green Energy Plant virtual labyrinth. At the end of the underground section, Mario enters a Warp Pipe into a room with three pipes. Once the Claw Hammer has been picked up, it is wrung out, refilling Mario's paint and becoming a colorless card. It is kept until it is used in battle, after which it returns to its original position. It can also be purchased from the Wringer for 200 coins. A replica card of the Claw Hammer also exists, and may be collected from the Battle Spin or Prize Pipe Paths. The Claw Hammer may also be placed into the Prisma Museum, where it can be tested. Its description mentions it being harder than Mario's typical hammer, and can be used to break large rocks in the way. Both this description and the location it is found allude to the hammer item from Super Mario Bros. 3.

When the Claw Hammer is used in battle, the scenery changes to a nighttime city setting. The large Claw Hammer drops into the battlefield.
