Director's Notes

Hello 'Shroomers. Super Mario Bros. (talk) here, coming to you with the Director's Notes for Issue LI.

I feel that the Feedback Survey did not go as well as planned, but was not a complete failure since it at least managed to get five responses (one response makes it a success in my eyes, since we get some sort of feedback from the readers). The five responses we got will indeed be considered, but I must ask that when the next survey rolls around, that everybody does their best to participate. The more feedback we get gives us a report that better represents the opinions of the readers.

Some great news about our affiliates: The Mushroom Kingdom and Metroid Recon are both The 'Shroom's newest affiliates! Stooben Rooben (talk) kept in contact with them and solidified the deals. There are several other pending affiliations, so expect good news on those in the following months. The staff will be working on a new page to list affiliates of The 'Shroom, but for now, the new affiliates will be listed along with the other three we have had.

The 'Shroom Spotlight has had no activity as of late. Nobody has signed up and there is little (if any) participation. This is exactly what will kill this project. So please, bring some life to it and join! Helping out in these sorts of things helps the wiki, community, and can look very good on your "record", so it would be a very wise thing to do. Contact Xzelion (talk) for more information on how to join and what to do.

A section on The 'Shroom Mafia II game will be coming next month. The game just ended a day or two ago, so I feel that another month would be sufficient time for Tucayo (talk) to write a section summarizing and explaining the game.

The Awards voting has started! Please be sure to go out and to vote on all of the awards! Not only will it set up for a wonderful Anniversary celebration this year, but it will benefit The 'Shroom Awards and the ceremonies to come in following years. Remember, the ten 'Shroom Award plan is not guaranteed for next year, and could easily be changed back to five awards! It depends on whether you want to vote or not.

The Poll Chairperson Election has started up! All of the details about voting, running a campaign, and such things can be found on the page linked to. There will be a debate (if two or more candidates join the fray) held on chat sometime, but more planning needs to go into it. More details about the debate will also go on the page that has been linked to. Also, I have decided to run again, so I guess this will be fun to see how the election turns out and everything. Best of luck to those who decide to run against me!

And good job on this issue, everybody. The next issue will be released on July 16th, 2011. Be sure to come back and read Issue LII, I am sure it will be great!

Until next month,

Super Mario Bros. (talk)

Poll Committee Chairperson Election

The election is over! Incumbents Super Mario Bros. (talk) and Stooben Rooben (talk) have won their reelection!

Sunday, 23 May 2010, a proposal concerning several changes in our current Main Page was accepted by the community and passed. This proposal can be viewed here.

One point this proposal addressed was the creation of a Poll committee, a selected group of users to create and select polls to feature on the Main Page. The members of this committee are meant to be selected by a person in charge of the committee, the Poll Committee Chairperson, who shall be elected by the community. The second annual Poll Committee Chaiperson Election is taking place here.

What does the Chairperson do?

As the person in charge of the Poll Committee, the Chairperson holds several responsibilities. The essential obligations of the Chairperson are listed below.

The Poll Committee Chairperson...

  • ...needs to select six users who will, together with the Chairperson, form the Poll Committee. These six users should be trusted members of the community.
  • ...needs to select one of these six users to be their surrogate. The surrogate will replace the Chairperson in case they are not able to hold their position anymore.
  • ...should suggest, discuss, and vote on polls in a sub-forum exclusively for the Poll Committee. These polls should be appropriate and not be detrimental for the Mario Wiki's reputation. A forum account is required for the position of the Chairperson, as well as for every other member of the committee.
  • ...should be active. They should be able to cast a vote every two weeks. If a decision cannot be made, the Chairperson holds the right to abstain from voting (the committee needs to be informed of this abstain however). Repeated failure to cast a vote or abstain might result in a loss of the chair position.
  • ...holds the right to suggest the dismissal of a certain committee member if said member does not uphold their responsibilities properly. A vote among all committee members will then commence. If three other members agree with the suggestion, the member in question will be dismissed. The Chairperson then has to select another user to take their place.
  • ...will keep their position for one year, provided that nothing out of the ordinary happens. After that period, a new Chairperson will be elected. The old Chairperson holds the right to attend this election as a candidate once again and thus has the chance to be elected for another year.

If you think you might be a suitable candidate for this position, you can enter this election as a candidate.

How do I become a Chairperson?

To become the Poll Committee's Chairperson, you need to be elected by the Mario Wiki Community. For this matter, you can campaign in the election below. You can join the election as a candidate at any time, except if the election reaches Overtime. If you are interested, follow these steps to nominate yourself:

===Your Name===
Your reason why you should become the Chairperson

====Votes====

  • You can enter the election by filling out this form and posting it below. New campaigns go to the bottom of the page.
  • You can only nominate yourself. Entering someone other than you in this election will not be tolerated.
  • Make sure your campaign has reasonable grammar, so people can understand what you are trying to say.
  • After your campaign is set, people might add their votes to the Vote section of your campaign. As a user of the Mario Wiki, you have a vote as well, and you are allowed to vote for yourself.
  • If you have the most votes by the end of the election, you will become the new Chairperson. If there is a tie by the end of the election, it will continue between the candidates with the highest amounts of votes for one week. This procedure is called Overtime. If there is still a tie by the end of the new deadline, the election will once again be extended by one week. Overtime continues until one candidate has the highest amount of votes.
  • Please take this matter seriously! Joke campaigns and profanity will be removed without warning. Additional steps might be taken against violators of this rule.

How do I vote here?

You can vote by going to the Vote section of a campaign and add this form to it. Remember to replace “Name” with your actual user name.

#{{User|Name}}

Alternatively, a user may cast an anonymous vote by using the form below. Note that people may see who voted anonymously when viewing the page history.

#'''X'''

You can only vote for one person at a time. If the election reaches Overtime and your candidate gets eliminated, you can cast another vote for the remaining candidates if you like.

Debates

If there are still questions left, feel free to ask one of Mario Wiki's admins.

It is currently 18:26, November 11 (EST/EDT)

This election ends July 16th 20:00 (EST/EDT)

Candidates

Super Mario Bros. / Stooben Rooben

I'm sure I may seem familiar to most viewing this page. To those who do not recognize me, I am the incumbent Poll Committee Chairperson. I am throwing my hat in the ring to be reelected to the post.

My experience in the community includes, but is not limited to:

  • Super Mario Wiki
    • Wiki Sysop
    • Forum Global Moderator
    • Chat Manager
    • The 'Shroom Director
    • Poll Chairperson
  • Userpedia
    • Wiki Steward
    • Wiki Bureaucrat
    • Wiki Sysop
    • Forum Administrator
    • Chat Operator
    • Disconnected Sub-director

...And as mentioned above, there is a lot more I could include to demonstrate that I have been in positions of management, leadership, and representation, but I feel what I have listed will sufficiently show this. But here is where I must state how I will continue to follow the qualifications that the Poll Chairperson must meet and how I will change the way I do things to further meet them:

  • If elected, the members of the Committee (Stooben Rooben (talk), Edofenrir (talk), Gamefreak75 (talk), Marioguy1 (talk), SolarBlaze (talk), and Twentytwofiftyseven (talk)) will remain on the team. They have excelled at their jobs and should be commended for what and how they contribute to the Committee's discussion and work. Xzelion (talk) will be an addition to the team as well, because we've had 8 members on the team before and it works fine.
  • Stooben Rooben (talk) will remain Vice-Chairman (my surrogate), and will succeed to the position of Chairperson if, in any case, I must resign.
  • I will actively take part in the Poll Committee discussion. However, I will not take an active role in suggesting polls or voting in them. This is because I feel that it is my job to lead (and not run) the Committee. This means that anything that does not require direct executive intervention should not be intervened with. The current Poll Committee members have been doing an awesome job at nominating and voting, and they should continue without me interfering. However, I will still carry out tie-breaking votes or other kind of necessary votes that will ensure a poll being put on the Main Page every other week.
  • As mentioned above, my position is one of not interfering with the everyday goings of the Committee. This means that I have an implied abstention unless my vote is needed. I will, however, as stated above, actively discuss polls, make suggestions to proposed polls, and bring up concerns with anything going on.
  • In all my time as Poll Chairperson, I have not had to directly dismiss a member of the Poll Committee (one had deleted his forum account and was removed by default, and the other resigned shortly before announcing his retirement). The current members have not shown to be any sort of problem to the progress of the Committee, so I do not expect to have to remove any of them from their position. However, if it becomes necessary that I remove a member and select a replacement, then I will do so.
  • I will keep this position for another year if elected. Whenever things got hectic for me, Stooben Rooben was able to step in and help, and the Committee continued to work diligently. So no matter what, there will always be somebody here to lead the Committee.

My nomination for Poll Committee Vice-Chairperson is Stooben Rooben. As was mentioned the last time we both ran, he is a well-known member of the community and has always been willing to help out in processes and projects. He is responsible and has been there when I have needed him the most... He is qualified to hold this position again, and anybody who could argue otherwise is most certainly wrong. If I had to step down or lose my position for whatever reason, I trust that Stooben would be able to pick up where I left off and would be able to lead the Committee well.

Here is an incomplete list of positions that Stooben Rooben holds. There are many other things worth mentioning, but again, I feel this list will still speak for his overall being qualified for the position:

  • Super Mario Wiki
    • Wiki Bureaucrat
    • Wiki Sysop
    • In Charge of the Forum
    • Chat Operator
    • The 'Shroom Affiliates Manager
    • Poll Vice-Chairperson
  • Userpedia
    • Wiki Steward
    • Wiki Bureaucrat
    • Wiki Sysop
    • Forum Administrator

So yes, thank you all, and please be sure to vote for us!

  1. Baby Mario Bloops (talk) - SMB's statements and his performance over this last year has really made the Polls the best that it probably was ever. I'm positive that if he stays on that they are only going to get better.

Plumber / Xzelion

I was the Director of the 'Shroom, I am more than qualified for the position. It's time for Reform in this Poll Office! Oh yeah, and Xzelion (talk) has agreed to be my running mate. I like SMB (and would vote for him if I weren't running) a lot, so I would keep him. Probably Crash, TB, Crash, SY, you know. Oh, Stooben's golden boy as well. If you want to join as well, just give me a line, or preferably add it in in the support section.

So now that there are two campaigns that actually meet regulations, I will add this section (that should have been here a while ago). Now that we have two candidates, this election now qualifies for a debate. I suppose I'll communicate with Plumber to get a good date for this event. · SMB (Talk) · 12:57, 9 July 2011 (EDT)

I'm game for a Vice-Chairman debate if Xze's up for one. Dunno if it's really necessary, but it certainly could be interesting. Unfortunately, my real life schedule is as insane as ever, so it's doubtful that I'll be able to dedicate enough time to come on chat for as long as the debates would presumably take. I'll be actively checking out this page, though, so we could still have a bit of a debate on here, if I'm unable to spend enough time on chat. — Stooben Rooben 23:52, 9 July 2011 (EDT)
On the subject of the debates, the Chairperson Debate will probably be held in less than 22 hours (sorry for the short notice, but Plumber and I agreed that this would be the best time for both of us). So be sure to attend and think of what you might want to ask the candidates! I'm assuming this debate will be done in the style of the last 'Shroom Director Debate: the moderator is sent in questions by the attendants and poses them to the candidates. The moderator is also allowed to ask questions of his or her own. · SMB (Talk) · 00:36, 10 July 2011 (EDT)

...And I cannot make the debate if it is at 10 PM EDT. I forgot I had previous plans, so hopefully we can set it to something else in time. · SMB (Talk) · 13:46, 10 July 2011 (EDT)

The debate has been cancelled. I'll talk with Plumber to see if anything can be planned for another day. Sorry for any inconvenience. · SMB (Talk) · 19:55, 10 July 2011 (EDT)

The debate has been rescheduled to take place in less than 18 hours. I'll post again as the debate grows closer with more information. · SMB (Talk) · 02:20, 11 July 2011 (EDT)

The aforementioned debate is scheduled to take place in one hour! To access this, you must join #mwshroom (The 'Shroom's chat channel) on the DarkMyst server. For those who want a direct link (and connect via Mibbit), go here. For those who prefer accessing via a Java applet, you can use an applet I posted up on Userpedia over here. Thank you, and I hope tonight goes well! · SMB (Talk) · 19:00, 11 July 2011 (EDT)

The debate went relatively smoothly, despite some difficulties with starting. I want to thank all of those who attended, who actively participated, and to Plumber as well. It was a great debate and a fun night overall. · SMB (Talk) · 00:01, 12 July 2011 (EDT)

Feedback Survey

Hello readers of The 'Shroom. The amount of responses to the Feedback Survey was quite pitiful, it only getting five responses throughout the month that it was open. We are not sure whether it was due to the length, or just a lack of viewer interest, but we all hope to see that there will be more responses in the next survey (which will be hosted in the September 2011 issue).

So yes, a nice big thank you goes to those five individuals who actually did take the time to participate in the survey. Your effort and time is much appreciated, and we will be considering any changes that you have suggested and possibly implement them in the months to come.

Section of the Month

May 2011 Issue L Should Have Been MrConcreteDonkey (talk)

The winner of the Section of the Month award for the Special Fiftieth Issue is Should Have Been, having been written by MrConcreteDonkey!

Out of the many sections written last month, this section was chosen as the being one of the best. But why did it earn this title? Well, it was well-written, thorough, contained a lot of images, was well-humored, and covered what it was supposed to cover. It wasn't an average section– you could see that a lot of effort and time went into the section. The section is very deserving of the title "Section of the Month". MrConcreteDonkey has been writing the section since February 2011, and has been consistently turning it in every time since. His remarkably great writing style and overall great quality sections have been appreciated, and will continue to be as long as he writes. Good job, and great to see you get this award!

Upcoming Games by Paper Yoshi, and Music Factoid by SimeaMorgana also got quite a deal of consideration for the title, as well as Mario Kart: Wheel Tips Corner by Coincollector and Cooking Guide by Gamefreak75. Last month was a spectacular month, and everybody did an outstanding job. The aforementioned sections were also very representative of the quality of the issue. So good job to everybody mentioned as well.

But that concludes the Section of the Month presentation for May 2011. Issue LI is here, so next month we will be covering the winner of the Section of the Month for this issue. Again, congratulations to MrConcreteDonkey for winning Section of the Month for May 2011 with your Should Have Been section!

Hello once more, readers.

So it has been one month now since Special Issue L. After that admittedly somewhat hectic month, we are going to let everything settle down quietly. The result of this is a nice, little issue. It is a bit on the short side but that doesn't have to be bad.

On a more positive note: We finally have an "Ask '3K" segment again for this issue. We also gained a new writer in Chivi-chivik, who will assist the Cooking Guide with recipes and artwork. Personally, I am somewhat of a sucker for appealing artwork, so I definitely approve of this development.

And thankfully, this is all I'm going to bother you with for this month. Have fun reading.

Frankly's Findings!

Today, we have Prof. Frankly with us in a section we like to call Frankly's Findings. The ever-talkative professor has gone to the farthest corners of the planet, trying to find new species. He has reportedly found three new species of enemies.

Bleetboxer

Bleetboxer

  • HP:15
  • Attack:5
  • Def:0

Frankly's Notes: “I found this species of Boomboxer while I was exploring the darkest depths of the Floro Caverns. This seems to be the third strongest of the species. What I find quite odd is how colorful these creatures are, despite getting little sunlight.”

Rusted Wizzerd

Rusted Wizzerd

  • HP:5
  • Attack:2
  • Def:1

Frankly's Notes: “This species of Wizzerd was discovered in the Toad Town Sewers. It seems to have been worn down by rust, giving it a brown hue. One of its fingers seems to have been misplaced and the rubber covering of one of its hands seems to have been removed. This mechanical monster is a mess, but it can still put up a mediocre fight.”

???

???

  • HP:6
  • Attack:3
  • Def:1

Frankly's Notes: “Now this one is a little odd, as I didn't discover it, but rather…managed to create it. After hours of hard work in my lab, I have finally created the ultimate goon. Using my vast variety of tools and other utensils, I have combined the ordinary Goomba and the explosive Bob-omb into one abomination, which I will dub…

BOOMBA

Pretty self-explanatory, I should say.”

That last one looked a bit…odd…

Anyways, that concludes this special report. See you all next time.

The Mushroom Croquet Championships were played at Peach's Castle this past week. An epic final between Magikoopa and Gunther went down to the wire, but Magikoopa was able to complete his comeback after being given an inspirational pep talk from none other than Charlie Sheen. Though Sheen couldn't entirely piece together what he had said to the eventual champ, our reporters were able to come up with this: "Tiger blood, balloon, you can't handle Charlie Sheen!" Magikoopa celebrated his win with his jovial family, but the mood was dampened when Buzz Killington arrived and ruined the awards ceremony by telling a story about a bridge.

Hey, everybody! I'm PyroGuy6, and today we have an interesting interview. We're not just interviewing one person. We're interviewing THREE. Meet the Shadow Sirens!

Pyro: So I've heard Beldam and Marilyn stopped being evil.

Marilyn: GUH!

Beldam: Yes…

Pyro: How come you almost never detach from the ground?

Beldam: What do you mean, almost?

Vivian: I somehow detached from the ground when we were shot to the moon.

Beldam: Vivian, you detached from the ground? How is that even possible?!

Marilyn: Guh.

Beldam: You're right, Marilyn. Let's question Nintendo Logic later.

Pyro: How was Vivian not aware of your plans to awaken the Shadow Queen, Beldam?

Beldam: Well, Vivian wasn't created as early as me and Marilyn. She was actually created at the last second, right before those heroes came and sealed her.

Pyro: Is that so? Why does Marilyn say "Guh" all the time?

Marilyn: GUH.

Beldam: Um…I have no idea.

Vivian: Haven't a clue.

Pyro: How did you feel about Doopliss being in the group before Vivian came back, Beldam?

Beldam: (Why is he asking me so many questions?) He was freaky. The only way he was helpful was when he disguised himself as Professer Frankly.

Vivian: Plus, he couldn't even teleport right. That was hillarious.

Marilyn: GUH!

Pyro: Did the Shadow Queen intentionally give you all elemental powers?

Beldam: Yes, but the hats are what give us our powers. So if me and Vivian switched hats, we would switched powers.

Marilyn: Guh.

Vivian: Yeah. Once Beldam tried to put Marilyn's hat on but it…

Beldam: Don't say it.

Marilyn: GUH!

Vivian: It completely covered her up.

Pyro: LOL.

  • audience laughs and points at Beldam*

Beldam: Now look at what you've done, Vivian. Can we end this?

Pyro: Sure, this has been long enough. See you next month, everyone.

Oh hi, 'Shroom readers. I have four questions this time around and I want to thank those who submitted questions. Remember, whether or not this section appears in an issue depends entirely on your input. So with that out fthe way, the first three come from Flubber who asks:

-What is your favorite smiley? I really don't use the emoticons all that much, but if I had to choose one, it'd probably be the "cool" smiley. On a semi-related note, the forum needs a Bowser Jr. smiley.

-Do you like The Simpsons? Not as much as I used to a few years ago. It's become really hit-and-miss as of late. I still like it, but I think South Park is better.

-Do you think Wario is overweight? The whole "wario is fat ololol" thing isn't funny. It's immature and I think it reflects poorly on the community. To answer the question, I'd guess that he's built like an NFL player.

And PyroGuy6 asks -What is your favorite galaxy in the Super Mario Galaxy games? FreezeFlame in Galaxy 1 and SlipSand in Galaxy 2.

'Til next time, dear readers.

Fun Stuff

Director Notes

by Gamefreak75 (talk)

So, E3 was about two weeks ago and a lot of new and interesting stuff was shown. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon was probably my favorite thing revealed at Nintendo's E3. Too bad I don't own a 3DS ;-; And then there was the unfathomable abomination called New Super Mario Bros. Mii. Also, new trailers for many games, such as Super Mario 3D and Kirby Wii! There was also the Wii U, which looks interesting, but it's the price of the product that I fear... Also Pikmin 3 is not being released for the Wii and is being released for the Wii U. *insert 100 Angry faces here*

Now before I bore you, onto more exciting Fun Stuff news: Unfortunately, Papero (talk) was fired from his position of Mind Bogglers, due to failing to turn his sections in.

On a higher note, DKPetey99 (talk) is now making the Guess that Game section. Congratulations!

That's really all there is to say on the matter.

Music & Artwork

Director's Notes (Fawfulfury65)

Welcome to another great month of the 'Shroom! I hope you enjoy what the Music & Artwork team has to offer! As with the last issue, I am accepting all user artwork that is appropriate and related to Mario. So, if you have any drawings, please send me them to me in a personal message on the forums. You can ask me for more information.

Two new writers were added to the team this month, and they are Mariomario64 (talk) in Soundtrack of the Month and PyroGuy6 (talk) in Character Artwork of the Month! There are currently two sections left to write for, and they are Photoshopped Image of the Month and Box-Art of the Month. If you would like to write for one of these, please tell me and I will give you an application.

Screenshot of the Month (Fawfulfury65)

MP9 4-Player Logger Heads.png

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the Screenshot of the Month! This time, I have chosen a screenshot from the upcoming game, Mario Party 9. Although there is a chance that this is a beta image, I think it is worthy of being a Screenshot of the Month. It is very high quality and big, and it lets us know that Whittles, characters from Super Mario Galaxy 2, are going to reappear! The image seems to show a minigame of Mario Party 9, where characters have to hit a tree stump with an axe for unknown reasons. A meter is at the top of the screenshot, which indicates that the players will have to do something to fill that meter and win. That's all for the Screenshot of the Month; tune in next month for another great screenshot!

Sketches Related to Mario (Fawfulfury65)

Hi everyone! I have only received one artwork this month. If you have any drawings related to Mario that are appropriate, please send them to me by PM.

This month's only artwork was drawn by EctoBiologist (talk):

That's all for this month!

Sprite of the Month (FunkyK38)

In honor of Nintendo announcing Luigi's Mansion 2, I bring you these sprites of Luigi from Super Mario World! Luigi's sprites from Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World, and Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2. After featuring Mario for issue 50, I decided to give Luigi a little time in the spotlight, so here he is!

Random Image of the Month (Ralphfan)

Giant Spider

This month's Random Image is the Giant Spider, from Donkey Kong 64. It is a mini-boss found in the Fungi Forest that is fought by Tiny Kong. The spider lives inside a lair. Because the fight takes place inside the spider's lair, the image is very dark.

Music Factoid (SimeaMorgana)

Now this month, I’m going to present you five soundtracks of my favourite Mario game, Mario Kart : Double Dash !! This game, released in 2003, contains some fantastic music pieces which are perfectly emphasizing the chaotic and effervescent races in the Mario Kart series. Just listening to this music gives you the nostalgeek nostalgic feelings and vibes of the unfortunately very short GameCube period. Today’s video games are still very good and Nintendo still creates master-rendered and beautiful video games, but you feel something’s missing: Could it be fun? The fun of playing those old-school games which didn’t put that much emphasis on graphics? No, it is not. It is rather your childhood you’ve lost or you will lose. Memories of your childhood are attached to those games and therefore you just love them, because you can recall your memories. The first games you play in your life will remain the best ones you will ever have played, be it on SNES, N64, GameCube or already on the Wii… So, video game music is one of the means of recalling memories. (:

1. Mario/ Luigi Circuit

You could also call it ‘main theme’, as it truly is THE racing theme of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! It is just exhilarant and beautiful, one of my favourites!

2. Baby Park

Just add some bowser shells and giant bananas, 9 laps, invite some friends and voilà! The most chaotic track in Mario Kart History, even it is also the smallest one, you can have a maximum of fun!

3. Mushroom City

Why on Earth are there Bomb cars driving around? Where can you find a bomb car licence? And those wigglers… Still, it is my favourite racing course in this game.

4. Peach Beach

This music reminds me of Super Mario Sunshine! It’s relaxing and calm, although you can still feel the blue spiny shells breathing down your neck, brrr…

5. Waluigi Stadium/ Wario Colosseum

Wario’s got… a colosseum? Well, I don’t mind

6. Rainbow road

And now, for the most beautiful soundtracks in the Mario Kart series, the Rainbow roads! Well, you haven’t only good memories for this one… I think some of us just wanted to smash the TV screen when being on 1st place and then flying off an edge. :3

That’s it for this month, I hope you liked it. :)

Soundtrack of the Month (Mariomario64)

Hello, MarioWiki! I'm Mariomario64, writing for the 'Shroom for my very first time, here to bring you the Soundtrack of the Month. Since June marks the beginning of summer for those in the north half of the world (that includes me), I've decided to choose a more laid-back song. So, I chose the world map music for World 4 of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I have supplied a link to a YouTube video, which plays the song for 15½ minutes!

I hope you enjoy the music! And for now, goodbye.

Character Artwork of the Month (PyroGuy6)

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door promotional artwork: Mario, having an angry mood, with his fists tightened.

This month's Character Artwork of the Month is a picture of Mario during the events of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. He looks like he's ready to battle someone...or something. This picture is very pretty and high quality, and it deserves to be the Character Artwork of the Month. Plus, I don't want Mario to beat me up for not featuring this artwork.

Pipe Plaza

Director’s Notes (Marioguy1 (talk))

Hey guys! Welcome to another Issue of the Pipe Plaza! Last month was amazing, and I am very proud to say that Issue L was possibly (and probably) the best ‘Shroom issue ever; and definitely the best that I’ve seen.

But as usual, we continue on with the regular happenings. We still have a few spots open if anyone wants to sign up, and my Pipe Plaza page is still up for those who want more information.

Thanks, and read on!

Tip of the Month (FunkyK38 (talk))

Tip of the Month: When you're making a longer edit, such as typing a level summary into a page, you might want to copy it onto your computer by using your mouse to select "Copy." That way, if the edit times you out, you can just paste what you've typed into the page. I do this with my longer 'Shroom article, and it really helps when I know I'm taking longer on an article than my time on the forum goes for.

Special E3 Issue: Upcoming Games (Paper Yoshi (talk))

Welcome everyone to the first E3 issue of "Upcoming Games"! As usual, June brings us news about the Mario games currently in development while unveiling new ones. For this month, we have more details about two games covered here in previous issues and a new game announced at Nintendo's conference on June 7th.

Mario Kart 3DS

The Mario Kart series once again surprises the fans and players with completely new features. Characters are not limited to solid ground anymore; they can now both fly and go underwater thanks to the addition of air gliders and propellers to all vehicles, though only when needed. Karts will also be customizable with different parts, such as tires or gliders.

Retro tracks are expected to appear once again in MK3DS. However, only three have been revealed so far: Airship Fortress (DS), Luigi's Mansion (DS) and Maple Treeway (Wii). Another returning feature is the inclusion of coins within the races after three games and 10 years of absence.

The official trailer also revealed other playable characters, which include regular racers such as Peach or Yoshi. Players will be able to choose their Miis as well.

Tanooki Mario returns to the Mario series after being absent for 23 years

Super Mario 3D

The 3D Mario series is back to the DS line, this time with a game developed from scratch. Super Mario 3D will be the first true 3D Mario platformer; players will be able to accurately judge their position in the different levels with the stereoscopic 3D, making it easier to calculate jumps and attacks.

SM3D's gameplay is a mix of 2D and 3D platformers. While stages are three-dimensional, they are more linear than the ones from the 3D Mario games, such as Super Mario Galaxy. Levels also feature a time limit and flagpoles, common elements from the Super Mario Bros. games.

As previously hinted, the Super Leaf will make its second appearance in the Mario series, after debuting in Super Mario Bros. 3. However, it'll now transform Mario into Tanooki Mario, rather than his suit-less counterpart.

Luigi's Mansion 2

The strobe function in action

Reggie and Iwata-san, you're too slow. I needed this game for LAST MONTH'S ISSUE. :<

Luigi fans, rejoice! The green brother is back for more ghost-sucking action in Luigi's Mansion 2! After fighting King Boo and rescuing Mario in the Nintendo GameCube installment, Luigi once again takes on the ghost hunter role to capture some ghosts from various dark and spooky mansions, now in real 3D.

The game is expected to be a lot more puzzle oriented with the addition of different types of ghosts. Capturing those creatures now requires the activation of a quick burst of light, a strobe, as opposed to simply shining the flashlight on them. Luigi will also be able to suck many ghosts at once, although the number for the final version of the game is still unknown.

More details about the game are expected to come as we near the release date.

Release Dates (North America)

  • Mario Kart 3DS: Holiday 2011
  • Super Mario 3D: Holiday 2011
  • Luigi's Mansion 2: 2012

And that closes June's issue! E3 coverage will continue in the next month with the remaining 3 Mario games. See you in July!

Forum Update (Ralphfan (talk))

Aside from a multitude of name changes and crazy events in Stooben's Mafia game, there hasn't really been much to report on for this month. I would like to encourage those of you who are playing 'Shroom Mafia to be more active in the game thread and, for those of you that haven't been trying, actually apply some strategy. This is a big event for The 'Shroom and I don't want to see Tucky's efforts go to waste.

NOTICE: This section was written before the game ended, which ended up happening before the issue was released.

Anniversary Announcement (Ralphfan (talk))

The polls are here! Please go and vote! The Awards Staff has finished choosing 60 polls and nominees for each of them to be voted on. Now it's up to you to vote for the winners. Please refrain from entering joke votes or votes for "all" or "none" in the "Other" category.

You can now join our "Guess the Results" contest!

Aside from the voting, there is still lots of work to be done. Sign-ups will open for presentations on July 1st. As I stated last month, users can sign up to reveal the results of an award using some sort of digital medium. Polls close on July 13. Once all the results are tallied, they are sent out to the presenters so that they can include the results in their presentations. On August 5th, all presentations are due to me and SMB on the forums. Any late presentations (unless the presenter has provided a reasonable excuse and a date for when they can turn it in) will be handed over to backup presenters.

The actual awards ceremony will be held on the forums on August 12 from 4:00 pm (16:00) to 10:00 pm (22:00) Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4).

There may also be game tournaments held during the festive weekend. Their inclusion is still being determined by the Awards Committee. There will be other surprises as well, some of which will be unveiled between now and the July issue.

And on the other hand, we have finally unfeatured an article (sad face); it is Baby Peach.

Failed Feature nominations are:

Review Corner

By Ralphfan (talk)

So, this month, I am reviewing a popular spinoff released for the Gamecube in 2001. It was so popular that it has won the Favorite Spinoff award in all four Mario Awards shows. (But will it win a fifth? You can decide here!) Luigi's Mansion was originally designed for the Nintendo 64 but it was postponed to the Gamecube because the N64 was ending its run as Nintendo's newest console while the game was in development. It is a 3D action-adventure game, something rarely seen in the Mario series. A sequel, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, has been announced for the Nintendo 3DS.

Plot

Luigi receives a mansion, but when he arrives there, he finds that it is haunted. He meets Professor E. Gadd, who gives him a device called the Poltergust 3000 to suck up the ghosts so the professor can turn them into paintings (WTF). Luigi learns that Mario was kidnapped and sets off to rescue him.

Overall, this game has a much darker plot than many of the others in the Mario series. It's still rated E, but it can be a bit scary for younger audiences. Older players welcome the change from chasing fluffy bunnies to catching ghosts.

Gameplay

I like the learning curve for this game. It gets progressively harder at a reasonable rate. While the controls take a bit of time to learn, the early enemies are easy enough that it's not really a problem. The later enemies are tougher to defeat, as you cannot suck them in until you find their weakness. Almost all of the enemies in this game are original, which is a welcome change from many of the other Mario games.

Overall

This is a great game for a number of reasons. It's 3D, it strays away from the main plotline of the Mario series, has a reasonable learning curve and introduces lots of new characters. I give this game a 9.5/10. The one area it could improve would be graphics. If you look carefully, you can tell that this game was originally intended for the N64.

I feel that this game was a great step for Nintendo because it strayed from the traditional Mario series games. By waiting ten years between the original game and a sequel, they aren't overusing the series and using all its potential too quickly. I am looking forward to the sequel and I hope you all are too. See you next month and don't forget to vote in the awards!

Entertainment Section

by SKmarioman (talk)

Hey guys, It's me, SKmarioman! The first thing I want to say is that I am having a few internet problems that prevent me from accessing Newgrounds (in other words, I can't connect to the Newgrounds server) so I am unable to display any images this month. Anyway, I'm gonna talk about one of the most popular Mario flash movies on Newgrounds, Super Mario Bros. Z by Alvin-Earthworm!

It is personally one of my favourite Newgrounds animation series, combining the Mario and Sonic worlds in a way similar to the Dragon Ball Z world. There have been 8 episodes so far, and a joke episode called Nintendo Wiiiiiiiii!.

The series starts off with a Goomba walking along when he sees a Chaos Emerald. Wondering what it is, he picks it up, planning to give it to Goombella so she'll go out with him. Suddenly Mecha Sonic warps to the Mushroom Kingdom from Mobius using his powers right where the Goomba found the Chaos Emerald. Demanding the Chaos Emerald, he destroys the Goomba and goes off searching for the other six.

Meanwhile, the Mario Bros. are having a Mario Kart race against Wario and Waluigi, and Princess Peach is spectating. When it is neck-and-neck up to the finish line, LOADS of Bob-ombs land on the track, exploding on all of them. Bowser comes and challenges Mario to a fight in front of all of his fans. Luigi wimps out of course, so Mario has to fight on his own. Like always, Mario always seems to be winning, but Bowser gets revenge and eats a Metal Mushroom, making him invincible. Bowser is about to crush Mario, but right at that moment a huge metal droid falls out of the sky, landing on Bowser, thus saving Mario. Now that Mario is free, he gets a Cape Feather, becomes Cape Mario, and gives Bowser a huge beating.

Kamek, worried about Bowser losing, AGAIN, threatens to turn Peach into a Goomba in attempt to stop Mario. Bowser thanks Kamek and gets ready to burn Mario with a huge Fireball. Suddenly blue and black balls come out of the droid and smashes Kamek, creating one of the funniest quotes in the series. "I'M FLYING! WHEEEEEEEEE!". So, now that Kamek is out of the way, Mario destroys Bowser and defeats him again. Luigi comes back to the scene, only to be scared once again. The reason? Well, there were two hedgehogs on the track in front of them. Sonic and Shadow.

At first they tell the Mario Bros. that they are searching for the Chaos Emeralds, but in episode 4 Sonic tells his whole backstory. In Mobius, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose and Cream the Rabbit were living a carefree life, and Dr. Eggman would occasionally try to invade, only to lose every time. Tired of losing to Sonic all the time, Dr. Eggman decides to make a robotic version of Sonic. He made many models, but none could withstand Sonic. His final model, called Metal Sonic, still couldn't beat Sonic. But there was something this particular one had that made it stand out from the others: a strong will. It kept coming back to defeat Sonic, but of course still could not beat him. Dr. Eggman, who was at first unaware of Metal Sonic's plans, was ready to break down Metal Sonic for disobeying. But Metal Sonic ignored him and combined himself with all of the other robotic Sonic models and all of the power from the Death Egg. He became extremely powerful and became Turbo Mecha Sonic. The Death Egg fell from the sky, killing everyone inside it (except for Turbo Mecha Sonic) and shaking the entire planet. Super Mecha Sonic goes out and kills all of Sonic's friends in search of all of the Chaos Emeralds, until only Sonic is left. The entire planet is in ruins, and Super Mecha Sonic is up against Sonic for the last Chaos Emeraldin their biggest fight yet. Sonic appears to be losing, and Super Mecha Sonic obtained the last Chaos Emerald. He is just using its power to become invincible when, Shadow comes out of nowhere and uses Chaos Control to warp them to the Mushroom Kingdom. Super Mecha Sonic teleports there immediately using his preinstalled powers, so Sonic and Shadow have to find another way there. So they head to the ruined Death Egg, where they find a droid containing some of the Chaos Emerald's power. So Sonic and Shadow get in, and Shadow uses Chaos Control to teleport to the Mushroom Kingdom.

All the heroes travel to many places, including Yoshi's Island, the Minus World and the Pipe Maze, and battle some familar foes, such as the Koopa Bros., Axem Rangers and an entire army of Koopatrols.

One of my favourite moments is in episode 7. Remember last month how I talked about Bowser's Kingdom? Well, Jeff and Hal cameo in this episode, arguing about a bad map and then getting lost in the Pipe Maze. This is further referenced by using all the same voice actors from Bowser's Kingdom.

The series hasn't finished yet, but when the next episode comes out, it's sure to be epic.

So, that's it for the Entertainment Section this month. See you guys next time.

Interview

By New Super Mario (talk)

Hello all 'Shroom Readers! Today, we will be interviewing Yoshiwaker!

NSM: When did you join the wiki?

Yoshiwaker: I joined the wiki on September 25, 2010.

NSM: Do you have, or had any special rankings on the wiki?

Yoshiwaker: No, I'm just a normal user.

NSM: Do you have any positions in The 'Shroom?

Yoshiwaker: I write for the "PipeProjects Seeking Contributors" section of Pipe Plaza.

NSM: What do you think The 'Shroom could improve on?

Yoshiwaker: I can't really think of any specific things The 'Shroom could improve on right now.

NSM: Thoughts on Community Polls?

Yoshiwaker: I like how the polls show the community's general opinion on a certain subject.

NSM: Thoughts on "Did you Know"?

Yoshiwaker: I think the "Did You Know" section is a nice addition to the main page and a good way to learn interesting facts.

NSM: What do you think about the upcoming awards?

Yoshiwaker: I'm not exactly sure what the upcoming awards are, so I have no opinion on them.

NSM: Are you on Chat?

Yoshiwaker: I was on Chat for a little while, but I can't get on now.

NSM: Who do you think writes the best article in The 'Shroom?

Yoshiwaker: I think Edofenrir writes really great sections for Fake News and I particularly admire how he wrote all the sections with no writers for the 50th issue.

NSM: Are you on Userpedia?

Yoshiwaker: Yes, I am on Userpedia.

NSM: What would be your favorite Non-Mario game?

Yoshiwaker: My favorite non-Mario game is probably Supreme Commander. It's a really complex RTS game on a large scale. I especially like nuking people's bases.

NSM: What would be your favorite Mario game?

Yoshiwaker: My favorite Mario game is probably Super Mario Galaxy.

NSM: What would be your least favorite Mario game?

Yoshiwaker: I didn't really like Mario Kart: Super Circuit. I thought the controls were really bad.

NSM: What is the easiest Mario game you've played?

Yoshiwaker: In my opinion, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story was really easy. The only hard parts were Dark Star X and Bowser X, and those were optional.

NSM: What is the hardest Mario game you've played?

Yoshiwaker: If DK games count, the I'll say Donkey Kong Country 2 was very difficult. It was not difficult to the point of quitting, but many levels towards the end were very challenging, including the final boss.

NSM: What game consoles do you own?

Yoshiwaker: I own the SNES, N64, Gamecube, and the Wii.

NSM: What handhelds do you own?

Yoshiwaker: I own or have owned the GBC, GBA, DS, DS Lite, DSi, and the 3DS. I only have about half of those currently.

NSM: Thoughts on the 3DS?

Yoshiwaker: I really like the 3DS and the games on it. I don't always use the 3D, but is a nice feature.

NSM: What 3DS color do you want/have?

Yoshiwaker: I have a blue 3DS.

NSM: What do you think is the 3DS's best feature, besides the 3D?

Yoshiwaker: I think the best feature of the 3DS is it's amazing graphics and sound.

NSM: Thoughts on the Nintendo 3DS eshop?

Yoshiwaker: I like the new eShop, even though it was a day late (It came in the morning on June 7). I thought it was nice that Nintendo gave away 2 apps for free and they let you download E3 trailers for their upcoming games.

NSM: Thoughts on Mario Kart 3DS?

Yoshiwaker: Mario Kart 3DS definitely looks interesting, with the gliders and the underwater parts. I wonder what courses will come back and if they will be different because of the new features.

NSM: Thoughts on Paper Mario 3DS?

Yoshiwaker: My favorite part of Paper Mario 3DS is that it is an RPG! I also think it has interesting plays on the characters being paper, just like in The Thousand Year Door.

NSM: Thoughts on Super Mario 3D?

Yoshiwaker: Super Mario 3D appears to me as sort of a handheld version of Super Mario Galaxy, because it has 3D and 2D parts. I like some of the throwbacks to SMB3, such as Boom Boom as a boss, and the Tanooki Suit. It also appears to have some very interesting additions, such as spiked pillars in 3D and that combination Piranha Plant-Blooper enemy.

NSM: Thoughts on Mario and Sonic at the London Olympic Games?

Yoshiwaker: I've never played the Olympic Games series, but this still looks interesting to me. I like the Sonic characters and there are the Dream Events look fun. However some things don't look too fun, such as Judo(that reminds me of the Pokemon Throh).

NSM: Thoughts on Luigi's Mansion 2?

Yoshiwaker: I just got Luigi's Mansion not too long ago, and I really enjoyed it. Nintendo must have known the fans were waiting for a sequel to Luigi's Mansion. I wonder what the story behind the mansion will be this time. It looks to me like there will be many new ghosts with special ways to defeat them, like that mummy that appeared in the trailer. On thing I slightly dislike about this is the appearance of the ghosts. I liked the more cartoony look from the original better.

NSM: Thoughts on Super Smash Bros. 4?

Yoshiwaker: I really liked Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and I can't wait for the sequel. I hope there will be some more third party characters. I hope most of the characters from Brawl will return, too. I await a trailer of this.

NSM: Thoughts on Mario Party 9?

Yoshiwaker: It appears that Mario Party 9 will add new elements to the series, such as different modes and types of minigames. I hope that DK will start being playable again. I think those minigames that involve Bowser Jr are either a team variant of a duel game where both players work together to beat Bowser Jr. Either that, or they are a duel game where the object is to be the one to defeat Bowser Jr.

NSM: Thoughts on New Super Mario Bros. Mii?

Yoshiwaker: I hope New Super Mario Bros. Mii is just a prototype game and will not actually be released. I don't hate Miis, but I don't think they should be a main character in a Mario game.

NSM: Thoughts on E3 in general?

Yoshiwaker: I liked E3 this year a lot because Nintendo revealed many games and reveled more information about others.

Character Comparison

Hi, I'm Mario304 and I'm back with my first Character Comparison in two years! Man, it's been that long. Anyway, today I'm comparing two loyal servants of Princess Peach. They both get a little worried about her, they are loyal advisers but what sets them apart? I think it's time to compare both Toad and Toadsworth. Let's begin!

Physical Appearance

Toad

Toad is a small mushroom citizen with a diaper. Like all Toads in the Mushroom Kingdom, he wears brown shoes and a hat. On his hat are some red spots and he also wears a blue vest. This vest, however, sometimes makes him easy to distinguish from the other toads.

Toadsworth

Like Toad, Toadsworth is a small mushroom citizen with a diaper. Unlike Toad, however, his physical appearance is unique compared to him. He does wear brown shoes, but he also has a brown hat with dark brown spots. He wears glasses, has a cane that he carries around and also has a beard.

Games

Toad

In his early appearances, Toad was a helpful NPC who gives tips and items to Mario throughout his adventures. He would even be a playable character in some games, such as Super Mario Bros. 2. As time went on, his appearances as an NPC became stale and he is now a playable character in some spinoffs. Who, however, took over his NPC role in the more recent games now? Hm...

Toadsworth

In his first appearance, 2002's Super Mario Sunshine, Toadworth was an advisor to Princess Peach and is constantly worried about her. He doesn't do much in this game, though as he mostly stands around worrying about Peach after she is kidnapped. In his most recent appearances, though, he begins taking over Toad's role as a helpful ally who gives Mario tips and items. He has only made two appearances as a playable character, though.

Personality

Toad

Toad is a humble friend of the Mario Bros. and Peach. He loves helping them whenever they are in need of it and he never gets angry. He tends to get scared at times though and he worries little about the princess when she is captured. However, his humble and excitable personality always makes him thrive to help the bros. whenever they are in need of it.

Toadsworth

Unlike Toad, Toadsworth is more worried the princess when she gets captured. Usually when this happens, he begins to weep and shout, wanting the princess to come back. Even though this gets annoying, he is a very kind and caring character, wanting to help the bros. by giving them tips in some games.

Wrapup

Now I shall tally the points and see who wins this character comparison! Here are the results:

Winner of Physical Appearance is: Toadsworth! Winner of Games is: Toad! Winner of personality is: Toad!

So our winner is:

WINNER

Artwork of Toad for Mario Party 6 (Reused for Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, Mario Kart Arcade GP, Mario Party 7, New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart Wii)

TOAD- "Our princess is in another..." Quiet, Toad! I didn't ask you to speak! Sorry about that. Anyway, yes Toad won. Why? Well Toadsworth may be the new advisor of the Mario Bros., but Toad has more to offer than him. He appears in more games, some as an NPC, some not. His physical appearance may not be in a lot of detail as Toadsworth, but Toad has a fun personality and he appears in cartoons and comics. So, Toad won! I hope you all had a great time reading this! See ya!

Brawl Tactics

by FunkyK38 (talk)

Welcome, Brawlers, to BRAWL TACTICS! This month, in keeping with my Luigi theme, I will be covering Luigi's Mansion!

Luigi's Mansion is a medium sized stage based on Luigi's Mansion from the game of the same name, obviously. It has three floors avalable for brawling: the ground floor, the second floor, and the roof. There are also two panels that will float up and down on the sides of the stage.

The sides of the second floor are solid, so you can't drop through them like most of the other parts of the stage. This makes this part of the stage an excellent hiding place if there's something trying to shoot at you from above.

The pillars are collapsible, which makes this stage fun to bring down. If you strike the pillars enough, you can take the whole house down.

Luigi's mansion has a high frame, which means you need a fair amount of launch power to KO your opponents from the sky. But, if you knock them off the side, and they get stuck under the stage, there's really no hope. Like Pokemon Stadium, this stage has a root growing up from the middle, which means the sides hang over a bit- you will regret it if you don't aim your recovery move at the right angle.

All in all, Luigi's Mansion is not the most challenging place to have a battle, so if you're looking for a stage with not too many gimmicks, this one would be a good choice. Hope this helps you, Brawlers, and I'll see you next month!

Mario Kart: Wheel Tips Corner

by Coincollector (talk)

Welcome, Mario Karters, to Mario Kart: Wheel Tips Corner. Your friend Coincollector is here again to tell you the tip of the month... oops, sorry, there won't be any tips this month. But don't worry, you won't leave this page with a blank mind because I've got big news for you, Mario Kart-lovers. I have to say that this month has been very interesting, because at long last we have seen Nintendo's new console, the Wii U. Yup, at E3 this year the big N unveiled its new console that makes the first step to the upcoming generation of consoles, and despite that its name is sort of lame (it's we with a you - not they), the console comes with the very interesting concept of a traditional controller that has a touch screen and the ability to play HD games - at last!

Luigi
So in this new Mario Kart we're gonna use gliders... this could serve to make great shortcuts in the races.

But that's not the most important thing topic actually. The biggest news is the info about the new Mario Kart for the Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo showed new footage from the game, and what I've seen from the videos, this game really surprises me. First, the game is developed largely by Retro Studios (known for making other popular Nintendo games like Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country Returns) and second, the gameplay that this game is going to offer. Mario and his friends once more take the karts for fun races around the Mushroom Kingdom, but this time, they won't be driving on land, but now they will be flying through the sky and even underwater. And how? you say. Well, now the karts have gliders and propellers that turn these vehicles into planes and submarines, allowing these vehicles to test the new courses that were prepared for their new tools. Some courses were revealed, yet they don't have names. What I'm very sure is that once again the retro courses will make their appearance in this game too. Among the confirmed retro courses are Luigi's Mansion, Airship Fortress, both from Mario Kart DS and Maple Treeway from Mario Kart Wii. Another interesting feature seen in this new Mario Kart is that now you can personalize your kart in the style you like (goodbye lame pre-set vehicles). By changing the body of the kart, the wheels and the accesory they use, like the glider, you can get your desired vehicle with aspects that make it different from the other karts. By now, from the videos you can only change the look of your vehicle, but maybe changeing the vehicle's parts also implies the change of stats like speed, accel, weight, etc.

Bowser
Now you can pimp your ride as you like... but in parts.

Unlike its predecessor, Mario Kart Wii, the Mario Kart for 3DS will return to eight racers per race. Even the item list will be significantly simpler than the latest Mario Kart games, apparently removing some items like the Mega Mushroom, the POW Block and also the ill-famed Thunder Cloud. The last interesting thing in Mario Kart for 3DS is that Coins reappear in the courses. Since Super Mario Kart for SNES and Mario Kart Super Circuit for Game Boy Advance, the coins make another return to the races in the Mario Kart games.

E3 2011 screenshot of Bowser and Donkey Kong racing toward some Clampies in Cheep Cheep Lagoon in Mario Kart 7.
A race underwater. Wait, if they can now drive in these places... this means Lakitu will become unemployed.

So far, the only thing I know is that most of them appear in all the courses, and the racers must collect them, although their real role in the game is still unknown. In the past Mario Games where they appeared prominantly, coins give you extra speed to your vehicle, but it seems that in this new Mario Kart, the coins may take another function. Maybe they are now the key to unlocking elements, like new parts for your kart, for example. With these new features, this Mario Kart may become the most radical Mario racing game so far, proposing new ways to drive and use your vehicles, not to mention the possible new gameplay that this game will offer. However, there is a possibility that this may change sooner or later, and many of these will be turned into beta elements, being replaced by fresher ideas then. The game is expected to be released by the end of 2011 with other various Mario games about to come in 2011 too.

See you next time guys, and remember to look both ways before crossing the road because Mario Kart for 3DS is approaching and I'll be able to talk more about this new game in the future, and even the next Mario Kart for the Wii U!
