Super Mario 3D
Platitudinous (talk) Someone should add information about the Star Coins in Super Mario 3D.
Super Mario 3D Land
Should I make a other page with Star Medal? -Red-CyanToad
There are more than 306 star medals in 3D land. I have 315, and I think that's the max, but I'm not sure, so I'll leave it. 25T16File:DDRmario.jpgIt’s a me! 16:06, 23 November 2011 (EST)
Actually, Now I have 318, and I'm sure there are more. Possibly 320. 25T16File:DDRmario.jpgIt’s a me! 23:45, 25 November 2011 (EST)
Split Star Coin Sign and Star Coin
SPLIT 5-0
Out of all the mergers during the "Crusade against Stubs" this one makes the least amount of since to me. For starters the only argument in favor of merging these articles was because the Star Coin Sign article was a stub fun fact it wasn't a stub it was a short article that was labeled a stub when it was one sentence long back in 2007 [1] and then when it was expanded to contain all the info on the subject nobody bothered to remove the stub template. So while yes the Star Coin Sign article was short it still wasn't a stub because there was no info that could be added. Second these two things while related in the sense that Star Coin Signs go away once you pay 5 star coins, they are and never will be the same thing. Because of these points I believe we should split these articles because they aren't the same thing and the Star Coin Sign article was not a stub when it was merged

Split
- Raven Effect (talk) Per my arguments
- RandomYoshi (talk) – Per Raven Effect. If they aren't the same thing, why merge them?
- New Super Yoshi (talk) Per shoey.
- Mario4Ever (talk) Per proposal.
- LeftyGreenMario (talk) Hm, I remembered supporting the merging of this section previously because the article was insanely short and related to the Star Coin a lot. However, I think the Star Coin Sign warrants its own article simply because it's an obstacle, not a collectible.
Keep Merged

What makes Star Coin Sign more deserving of its own article? I'm just wondering. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 19:20, 15 April 2012 (EDT)
- It's an officially named thing that plays the role of an obstacle in the Mario series now for my question why isn't it deserving of an article Raven Effect (talk)

this article states it is possible to collect 999 star medals. There is no refrence to this I would need proof to believe such a claim whoever added this fact needs to prove it.

One game is missing!
The Elevation Station minigame in Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move has normal coins but it also has Star coins (which are worth more points). Shouldn't this be added to this page? Agentdave7 (talk)
Split Star Coin and Star Medal
Template:SettledTPP
SPLIT 6-0
They're different items, with different appearance, names and function (the medals unlock levels and the coins unlock Star Coin Signs, Hint Movies, et cetera). I mean, 1-Up Mushroom and 1-Up Heart have the very same purpose and have separate pages. so I think we should split this.

Split them
- Mr. Ice Bro. (talk) – Per my proposal.
- SuperYoshiBros (talk) Although they have the same purpose, they have different names and appearances and are obviously meant to be different objects.
- Yoshi876 (talk) Per proposal.
- LeftyGreenMario (talk) Yeah, sure why not? Even the name is different. Somebody searching the wiki would expect a standalone article on Star Medal. Super Mario 3D Land's level progression is literally linear (each world is one continuous line) while New Super Mario Bros. has few, but still numerable, branching paths that lead to Toad Houses, other levels, and others. As a result, Star Mdeals and Star Coins will have different functions.
- YoshiKong (talk) – Sounds good to me, per proposal.
- KP (talk) Per all.
Leave it as it is

@LeftyGreenMario: Your reason doesn't make sense. This doesn't prove that Star Coins and Star Medals are different. It's only explaining the maps. YoshiToad04
- No, my point is that since map layout is different in both games, Star Coins and Star Medals get different functions. Star Coins and Star Medals' functions are dependent on map layout somewhat.

I know this is settled, but this needs to be said there already is a Star Medal page on the wiki, that would need to be moved to Template:Fakelink, whilst the info here would be split into Template:Fakelink Yoshi876 (talk)
