UncommonEdit
How are these things rare? They are part of the Shy Guy family.

The sub-species are rare, not the main species.--Knife (talk) 23:14, 30 March 2011 (EDT)
NameEdit
For future reference, the (archived) YS site refers to these guys twice: here ("If you want to save Yoshi from scorches, / Watch out for Shy Guys bearing hot torches.") and here ("Drop down at the first pathway leading down to land on a bridge with two Shy Guys below you with two fire urns."). English Name?Edit
In page 127 of the Nintendo Power guide, the heading "The Barbecue Boys" is used for Burner Heihō, but the following paragraph still refers to them as Shy Guys. Could "Barbecue Boy" be taken as their specific name and Shy Guy refer to their broader species? LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:53, 5 November 2018 (EST)
- I'd be willing to bet that this is just a title for them. We could rename this article to "Shy Guy (barbecue)," but I personally wouldn't go with that. Scrooge200 (talk) 15:52, January 27, 2020 (EST)
- How many times in the guide are headers like this used? Seems a possible callback to the Baseball Boys...itself simply a stage title referring to two enemies. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:12, January 27, 2020 (EST)
- The Yoshi's Story website calls them "Shy Guys with torches" and "Shy Guys bearing hot torches." So would "Shy Guy (torch)" be preferred? Scrooge200 (talk) 01:00, February 7, 2020 (EST)
- For that matter, we do have Shy Guys on Pogo Sticks.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 02:33, February 7, 2020 (EST)

In my opinion, that name could possibly work. While it is retconned in the description below it, the Yoshi's Story Player's guide doesn't use unique names for the shy guy variants, if at all; All of them on the enemy list page are just grouped under "Shy Guys" w/o names, Snow Guy is later called just Shy Guy in the guide, Fly Guy is either flying Shy Guy or just Shy Guy, "Sensuikan Heiho" are "Shy Guys in Submarines", Bamboo Dancer is "limbo Shy Guy" and/or "limbo guy"(specifically lowercase), etc. "The Barbecue Boys" does sound like a callback to "The Baseball Boys", which was used to refer to Green Glove and Slugger in the SMW2 guide. I agree to it being used as a name for the "Burner Shy Guys", especially if we're citing "Tehee Trampoline" which is used in a similar manner in the Player's guide. Though I think Scrooge's idea of "Shy Guy (barbecue)" would be a more accurate solution. Somethingone (talk) 17:42, April 20, 2022 (EDT)- Okay what kind of mental "connect-the-dots-incorrectly" pill was I taking when I wrote that. "The Barbecue Boys" is treated as no more of a name in that guide as "Shy Guys in Submarines" is, and so if we move one we move the other. And honestly, considering how "The Barbecue Boys" is only used on the header and never again in any official media, coupled with the rest of Yoshi's Story's "we-don't-really-care-what-our-Shy-Guy-variants-are-called"-isms which lead to so many names that are just generic descriptions (bamboo dancers/limbo guys/limbo Shy Guys, Flying Shy Guys, "Shy Guy", Shy Guys on Pogo Sticks, and the aforementioned "Shy Guys in Submarines"), I feel like we should just leave this page alone until an actual name is used.
