Miis and Mario Party 8
Hey, does anybody know how to get Miis as spectators in the Mario Party 8 Mini-Games?

Candy Transformation Articles: Worthy or Worthless?
Hi. I'm Mrbenio. Yesterday, I did a photoshoot while playing Mario Party 8 to try and make articles about what all 14 characters look like when using all the transfomation candies (excluding Twice, Thrice, Slowgo, and Bowser candies). But all I got to work with was the T.V. and my brother's camera. It worked out okay, but every picture ends up with that T.V.-like screen, and not being a true screenshot (how do these guys manage to get genuine screenshots, anyway?). Also, like all forms of collecting, I end up getting repeates of the same candy. I just didn't seem to like it as I should have, and now I'm thinking of abandoning this project unless there's to be a better way of doing this. I know I have saw screenshots on this site that are really photos of T.V. screens too, but at least those are less "pixlated." To show you all what I mean, I have put the photos of 11 forms that I managed to get on the File list. Please tell me if their worthy of being in articles, and if not, how could they be more like "screenshots?"
Mr.Benio 10:16, 6 June 2007 (EDT)
- Most of those screenshots seem fairly okay, but I'm not sure if every single character's transformations should get articles. For instance, your uploading of files for Springo Mario, Springo Luigi, Springo Peach, and Springo Yoshi suggests that you wish to make articles for all four of them; however, in a case similar to that of Raccoon Mario and Raccoon Luigi, articles for the forms separate characters using identical powerups are all put into one article with a template noting the clone information in the article, as seen in Raccoon Mario. However, I think one article for Springo Mario (as well as articles for Thwomp Mario, Vampire Mario, etc.) would be fine with use of that clone information template and that the screenshots are okay. People Articles – Useful or Useless?
Why do we have articles on people who have voice acted for a Marioverse character? In terms of Mario information, there isn't much to write about them except the games and the dates they've acted in. So basically, most real-life human articles are going to be short. So should we start limiting the number of real-life human articles being created or just stop creating any altogether. Maybe some could stay like Gunpei Yokoi and Shigeru Miyamoto.Knife (talk) 13:26, 6 June 2007 (EDT)
Where have you been, Knife? Those articles could be expanded, for example, by how their potrayal of Mario was different from another portrayal of Mario, or Mario himself, and how many episodes they did, etc..
Couldn't we expand on their bibleographies or something? In any case, I think it would be a shame to get rid of them. They're the backbone of the series afterall... I mean, how would you like it if you weren't properly credited for your work? Stumpers! 01:14, 7 June 2007 (EDT)
I brought this up before (though I included consoles and companies in the argument previously) and I never really saw the point in having articles on the things Knife mentioned. -- Sir Grodus
Por...trayal? What exactly do you mean? So tell me this; what would you add to John Leguizamo without going out of the Mario perspective? He has only acted once. There isn't really anything you can add to him without going out of the Marioverse. Plus, does this mean we're expected to create articles on all the actors in the movies/cartoons? As for credits, maybe a section about credits could be created in the cartoon/movies article?Knife (talk) 11:54, 7 June 2007 (EDT)
Okay, here's what he meant, I thought. Let's take John Leguizamo. His interpretation of Luigi's character was very different from Charles Martinet's famous portrayal later in the series. So, regardless of whether or not it was the writing of the story that lead to this protrayal or whatever, we should note that. For example, Leguizamo portrayed Luigi as a fresh-out-of-high-school little brother with a bright outlook on life, while Martinet... well, we all know how he does Luigi :) Also, why not mention Leguizamo's interaction with fans? I remember an interview where he said it was fun that the kids referred to him as Luigi, instead of his real name, even if he told them who he really was. And, he appreciated that and enjoyed "being" Luigi. There you go. Stumpers! 13:20, 7 June 2007 (EDT)

Voice Actors?
Should there be Voice Actors on the Game Pages?, or is it pointless. I mean, we put Release Dates up because it's interesting to know when it came out, so why not Voice Actors. It's interesting to know who did which characters voice, isn't it?
- Totally. We should have Voice Actors. Silent but deadly! SuperLuigi821 You lost everything. Way to go genious.
Voice actors are as important as the characters themselves. I mean, where would we be without Charles Martinet? That guy rox my sox. Stumpers! 12:15, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
OK, thanks. I'll start working on the Voice Actors from Super Smash Bros. Melee
That's awesome! I can't believe you can actually read those credits... I'm always too busy shooting them! >:D Can't wait to see the articles! Stumpers! 20:37, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
Er, what do you mean by articles. Do you mean adding Voice Actors to the pages, or making the articles on the Voice Actors?
Oops... my bad. Well, whatever you're gonna do is cool :) Stumpers! 23:17, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
Well, if I can find the Voice Actors for each game I will add them. But, most Credits don't even list who they voiced, which is stupid to me. Well, I guess I'll have to try and find them.
I hate that. It's just: "Voices" Oh, boy... great recognision. :P Stumpers! 00:28, 12 June 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, it really doesn't make any sense why they do that. It's like going to Hollywood without getting a celebraties autograph :P Sorry, had to say that. Nintendo has its reasons, I guess.
...they don't want them getting stolen? Sony should just pay Martinet not to voice act... that would be so devilish, but Nintendo would go down. Stumpers! 15:23, 13 June 2007 (EDT)
User Images
While sifting through unused files, I'm finding many unused personal images. While it is perfectly fine to have your own images (up to the limit), it's not ok to just have them and not use them. If you are not going to use one (or more) of your personal images, please mark it for deletion. If you have uploaded a personal image and have not used it yet, please do so or mark it for deletion. Otherwise...well, guess. -- Chris 20:11, 9 June 2007 (EDT)

- Just for the record, how do we pend images for deletion? Also, I uploaded a file under a random title the other day... does anyone know how to change the title? If it's an administration only thing, the file is known as "Image:ME0000692101 2-1-.jpg" ... I'd link it, but then it would post the image. ;) I want it to be called TDS_Puzzle.jpg (for Tetris DS, it's an image of the puzzle mode!) Stumpers! 00:12, 10 June 2007 (EDT)
- 1. To mark a file for deletion, add {{delete|REASON FOR DELETION}} to it's page.
- 2. Just reupload the image with a different name. I'll do that in a moment. -- Chris 01:14, 10 June 2007 (EDT)
- As a side note, when a files name is changed, any preexisting links will still function with no changes. However, it's good cleanup to fix the links anyway (I, personally, don't bother). -- Chris 01:21, 10 June 2007 (EDT)
- Oh, no... I screwed up... It was touch mode... shoot! Crud... I've had to correct myself about that already... ugh! Okay, I'll take care of the rest--don't you worry, alright? I'll just Mark them both for for deletion, and then I'll reupload everything. I'm so sorry! Man, I feel like such and idiot. Stumpers! 15:47, 10 June 2007 (EDT)

Strong First Day of Voting
Today as the first day of Mario Award Voting I got forms from 25 voters, with 669 votes total (average of 26.76 votes per person out of a max of 30). We have a shot (though very small) of making 100 votes for at least one award, but it is likely to cool down after today, as many of our active users have voted already. If you have not yet, you have until July 9th (a Monday) at midnight to finish. Wa TC@Y 00:46, 11 June 2007 (EDT)
Cool. Didn't vote yet because I was too lazy. Couldn't you just put a multi vote form on the forum? I'll eventually hand in my input.Knife (talk) 12:58, 11 June 2007 (EDT)

Images Away
Well children, it looks like we have finally cleared out all unused images from the last two years. It's been a long road, but, together, we did it. A big round of applause to all those who helped clear out over 650 pics, 6 sound files and 3 movie files. -- Chris 22:19, 12 June 2007 (EDT)

Regarding the State of the UnMario Wiki
Normally I'd post this there, but the place seems like a ghost town. Good articles are really hard to find there, and it's mostly littered with waste.
Right now, the wiki will not survive, and it is very close to its death. Most of the activity going on there revolves around the Other Stuff (games, etc). A lot of the articles are open parodies of movies that just stuck Mario in them (I'm guilty of this, too, so don't think that I'm blaming anybody), and most of the articles are lacking in good humor.
There are some bright spots (Teh Game is genius, and there are about a dozen or so genuinely original articles), but, on the overall, the wiki needs some fleshing out.
Thoughts? -- Waluigi Freak 99.
That wiki sucks. I'm ashamed to own it.SaudyTalk!
- Sorry, but Hk is right. The original spam concept doomed it from the start. Fantendo is heading in a direction that will make it last longer (but it will die too). Wa TC@Y 15:44, 15 June 2007 (EDT)
Uh.... Fantendo is doing fine. It won't die.SaudyTalk!
I guess the problem is that UnMarioWiki is a specialty of a specialty Wiki. :*( Stumpers! 18:51, 15 June 2007 (EDT)
- There are a few good articles. And a few of the concepts behind them are original. My viewpoint on the subject is that we need to just take the wiki down, saving Teh Game (only the original) and what a majority deems as funny, and then start it anew, or create a "memorial" for it or something, with the funny stuff put there. -- Waluigi Freak 99.
Yep, they're right. Plus, there are articles that only the creator can edit.-- Aipom --
Let's put it out of its misery. I thought it was a bad idea from the start. It's not looking good. Maybe some of the good articles, like Teh Game, could be moved to UserPedia? 3D, pure genius.
- Although some of the weird and retarded stuff in teh game would have to be fixed but ya its welcomed ther I guess. XzelionETC
So, should there be a proposal? -- Waluigi Freak 99.
- Then what? Do we just get rid of the website without a vote? And what do we decide to keep? -- Waluigi Freak 99.
I'm not a member, but if I were one, what I would do is take the articles I felt were important, split them up across the users on the MarioWiki, and host them on subpages. I'm willing to host one if you need more space. Stumpers! 19:31, 20 June 2007 (EDT)
Minor Series Categories
Last night, some categories like "Pokemon Series", "Star Fox Series", and "Metriod Series" were made. General description: "Some of the elements from the ________ series have crossed over with the Marioverse, mainly with the Super Smash Bros. series."
I think these should be sub-categories of the SSB series category, and not in their own league (considering the Importance Policy). They could also be deleted and all dumped into the SSB category, as that series is the only one to cross with the Marioverse. Conversely, they can all be kept. Either way, we need a vote.
Keep Where They Are
Make Sub-Categories
- Wa TC@Y – most sensible route, makes us look very organized.
- Cobold (talk · contribs) – they would seem confusing and not Mario-related to some.
- Booster – these categories are very minor to the overall Marioverse.
- My Bloody Valentine – even I, the one who created them, says make them Sub-Categories.

Credits
Uh, you know how many Video Game pages have those long Credits in them. Well, why don't we do what Bulbapedia does, they make a seperate page for their credits [1]. It might work, take a look. My Bloody Valentine
- Thats a pretty good idea. XzelionETC

- Interesting, I always thought MarioWiki was better. Bulbapedia has numerous amounts of Stubs and lack of Info on Main Character pages. They also don't have any Super Smash Bros. Character Pages. Anyhoo, does everyone really think that this Credits thing is a good idea? My Bloody Valentine
- Huh. I've only checked out the Pokemon pages, so maybe we are SUPERIOR!!! MWA, HA, HA! *ahem* Yeah... I think our main problem is that our writing style on the non-major articles is very... middle school style. That's fine, seeing as it gets the job done and lots of our users are in middle school, but we would need to improve if we were to "go pro" or whatever. It's no biggie. Plus, if I'm not fixing everything I see, I have no right to complain. Stumpers! 19:29, 20 June 2007 (EDT)

Languages
I have another idea, yet again from Bulbapedia. Shouldn't we have differant languages on this Wiki? Bulbapedia has English, Japanese, German, and recently Polish. But, I can't do much on that, because I can only speak English. What does everyone else think? My Bloody Valentine

Age Ranking for Games Infoboxes
Most of the pages of games on this wiki inform about the game's ranking in the US-American system ESRB. Some pages also include a rating for the Europeon PEGI-rating, and few name the Japanese CERO. Big Eight
Recently, a discussion has arrisen in regards to the future of the Big Eight page. Several users, including myself, see an issue with the amount of fanon in the category. Please view the talk page for individual ideas. Main concerns include the lack of any such category in the Marioverse and the level of favoritism involved in choosing characters. Another idea is that the Big Eight page would do better under the title MarioWiki:Big Eight as it is more of a guide for writers on the Wiki than an actual Mario element. Please post ideas for change or support for the page as is! Thank you! Stumpers! 13:52, 20 June 2007 (EDT)
