At left, the NSMBU DX artwork you thought was from NSMB. At right, the actual artwork from NSMB.
Take a closer look at the images to the right. Notice, among other things, the very different shading, the much smoother appearance of the left artwork, and the fact that the left artwork's overalls in particular are a much brighter shade of red. For this reason, I undid your edit.
Don't take this as a sign that you're in trouble or anything of the sore - it's a small and reasonable mistake that was probably made out of confusion, and I'm just taking the initiative in making things a bit more clear. --
