A Ghost Vase

Ghost Vases[1] are floating stands found in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They are mainly found in World 3-Ghost House and World 4-Ghost House. When the player gets close to a Ghost Vase, it turns purple and flies into the air, rotating. However, it eventually stops and rotates faster. After this, it flies toward the player. The player can avoid the Ghost Vase simply by jumping over it or running away from it. If the Ghost Vase misses its target, it continues to fly until it hits a platform or a wall, where it breaks and releases a coin.

A similar enemy called a Ghost Block appears in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bros. U.

Trivia

  • The Ghost Vase is one of the two new enemies from New Super Mario Bros. Wii that do not return in New Super Mario Bros. U, the other being the Bull's-Eye Banzai.
  • The Ghost Vase's method of attack is very similar to that of the Invisighoul of Yoshi's Island DS throwing furniture—remaining still until approached, then swaying in the air and being thrown directly at the player. A laughing Boo also implies it was thrown by one, as the furniture was by Invisighouls.
