The Signal Ring is an item in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars that, when equipped on Mario, makes a ringing sound when Mario walks into a room or an area that has a secret Floating Treasure Box.
Mario acquires this ring when he encounters Croco in Nimbus Land looting a citizen's house. Mario speaks to Croco, scares him away, and Croco drops the ring on his way out the door.
The player can then equip the ring, greatly helping Mario and his party to find rare items and Frog Coins. This also aids in completing a quest from the monsters in Monstro Town, where the monsters keep a count of all the hidden floating treasure boxes throughout the Mushroom World.
