Hi do you run this YouTube channel by any chance? I've been wanting to say for a while that I need to thank you a lot for the videos, the Donkey Kong ones in specific, as I'm merging Donkey Kong Wiki into Super Mario WIki. The fact that the levels are separated per video makes it a lot easier to review, let's say, the DK Coin, Bonus Level locations and such. Results May Vary (talk) 12:34, October 21, 2019 (EDT)

DKL3 levels[edit]

Hi! I wanted to ask you where the names in other languages of the levels of Donkey Kong Land came from, specifically in Spanish. Greetings! --Proyecto N (talk) 07:40, February 8, 2022 (EST)

Names in other languages[edit]

Just so you're made more aware, that section is meant for official names only. Wario Land 3, for example, only had one version with togglable English and Japanese text. If you're going to add languages that aren't evident within the game content, you need to cite sources. Otherwise, you're adding fan-translations, which is unallowed. Word changes[edit]

Please avoid changing around words on articles to more "fancy" or technical terms, especially when they stray from the original meaning, e.g. an ink marker is not a crayon (and "black eye" is an acceptable term on the wiki), "condemn" is more extreme than "scold" and has a slightly different meaning ("scold" is to tell someone off but "condemn" is to show strong disapproval, especially for something worse), and see my summary here. Verify the meanings of these words first, otherwise sticking with basic words is enough. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:09, March 17, 2023 (EDT)

Some of the colours you're adding are also not very accurate (e.g. this is not teal or teal-blue). Please double-check and compare the colours before using the terms. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:43, March 19, 2023 (EDT)

Reminder[edit]

Please stop adding flowery descriptions on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

You are still using a lot of flowery expressions and terms in much of your edits. Keep your language as neutral as possible and just describe what is happening exactly without adding "twists" to or looking too much into them. Don't use captions/descriptions like "The rivalry between Mario and Wario is renewed" or "[character] is ready for action/hits the turf" (or this, when it's just a picture of Mario and Peach standing), but just say something like "Mario and Wario compete against each other" or "[character] prepares to play/arrives on the field". Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 19:36, April 2, 2023 (EDT)

This is also not acceptable. Stop using colloquial terms or references to other media over just plain English terms. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 07:35, May 27, 2024 (EDT)

Navtemplates and categories[edit]

Hi, in the future, please remember to add navigation templates and categories to articles, like what you neglected to do when you created the ArtePiazza article. If you need help, you can always ask another user on their talk page. Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 19:50, November 16, 2023 (EST)

Dress descriptions[edit]

Please see MarioWiki:Good writing#Fan worship. Long sections describing what Peach's dress looks like is unnecesary especially when there's a clear image of it in the article. This also applies with this edit, even though we don't have the images of those dresses yet this sort of thing should have waited until we did, at which point we wouldn't need these descriptions. Even if there was a policy whereas anyone was to refrain from adding descriptions to the way the color are or the way the characters dress, the descriptions still give a vague describing and competitive edge. Whenever someone sees what colors there might be and the way a character looks, an analysis and description seems to assume good faith, even though the site moderation may not seem to keen about it, albeit from the site's policy. But the way the moderators and other team members on this Wiki handle things nevertheless keep things up to code, ensuring that all future releases prove to be a smooth transition. Warning.svg
This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (adding excessive and unnecessary dress descriptions) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site.
If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

Please stop doing this. You were reminded already. We don't need paragraph upon paragraph over what people can see by looking; a picture is worth a thousand words, and going into that level of detail regarding a character's outfits is at the least completely unnecessary and at the most rather disconcerting (also your reply above didn't make any sense at all). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:59, May 25, 2024 (EDT)

Even though this may serve as a warning, my recent editing behavior does NOT seem to be inappropriate by any means. Although my etiquette is still lenient enough to provide descriptions to characters' appearances or biology, you still seem to take no for an answer by all necessary means. Though there is somewhat of a strict policy that may still stand, even if anyone were to provide descriptions to the way a character dresses, some may still think that it could be still peruse to attain such descriptions, regardless of any regulations or boundaries. For you and the rest of the site staff to finally give me such a warning like this, I declare it to be somewhat flagrant and unacceptable, though my etiquette provides quality words for a character's biology and appearances. And on top of that, I have accounts on the Italian and German Mario Wikis, which will enable me to freely provide the biology details without any sort of penalization. VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 15:09, May 25, 2024 (EDT)
Your warning was well deserved. Closely examining physical details of female characters, as the good writing policy puts it, is "creepy and off-putting." Super Mario RPG (talk) 15:13, May 25, 2024 (EDT)
Also outfits have nothing to do with biology. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:14, May 25, 2024 (EDT)
No, no, no! Just when you think that my writing that examines physicals of character was rather "creepy and off-putting", I personally think that this warning you gave me was rather "creepy and off-putting", and THAT will be well deserved to be rather said than done. Your tireless efforts like this are giving not only me, but the rest of the community quite a headache recently. Even though I have poured every last of my valiant efforts into providing quality writing to so many articles, you're still rather "framing" me for something I really didn't do reckless to disappoint in front of anybody all around. As a last request, I would suggest that you simply stop wasting my valuable time and get with the program here, because any Wiki site, especially here on Mario Wiki, would NOT be considered a battleground for anyone's clothing fashion or biology. VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 15:30, May 25, 2024 (EDT)
The rest of the community? Everyone's been telling you to stop adding those descriptions. Not a single person here has taken your side on this. Super Mario RPG (talk) 15:33, May 25, 2024 (EDT)
Please be respectful and follow the advice given. You were told several times by multiple users that your edits run against MarioWiki guidelines and I do think the attention paid to a how tights are on a woman's legs is inappropriate to this wiki (and makes me very uncomfortable as a female editor). Character galleries - excessive screenshots[edit]

Hi! I know you want to help add images to character galleries (particularly for Mario and Daisy), but the galleries are getting bloated from the excessive screenshots you've been posting to them. Most of these screenshots are similar to each other as well. Please refrain from adding any more to those galleries. Thanks! link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 12:21, May 27, 2024 (EDT)

My mission is to tour the galleries that feature the designated character in the picture and put the picture in their desired galleries, making it somewhat easier to link to their galleries. VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 12:24, May 27, 2024 (EDT)
The thing is though, you only need a few pictures to link to a particular gallery. We don't need to add every single little detail, especially when other characters' galleries are not getting the same treatment. As it stands, even after all the pictures that Super Mario RPG and I have removed, Daisy's screenshots gallery is still longer than Mario's (a while ago at least), Luigi's, or Peach's. That amount of bloat is leaning towards fan worship as has been mentioned before. BMfan08 (talk) 12:31, May 27, 2024 (EDT)
With both outfit descriptions and excessive galleries, the reason I've been angry is because I deem it misogynistic and creepy to be focused excessively on every detail of women. Doesn't matter whether they're real or fictional. Super Mario RPG (talk) 12:38, May 27, 2024 (EDT)
Listen, there is a million reasons to frown whereupon, and the other site staff feel just about the same way. Let's play this way. How about if all character screenshot galleries have only one picture per game title with their alternate forms and other sports topics being except with a single screenshot as well. Does that sound fair to work a restructured deal? VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 12:41, May 27, 2024 (EDT)
The galleries are originally meant to showcase a couple of screenshots of a character in most cases (exceptions apply; I feel Mario cameos in WarioWare should probably be shown). I generally use one "main screenshot" that best illustrates the character from a particular game and then another screenshot that shows how players see this character most of the time in that game. Mario for Super Mario Galaxy as an example. I've relied on simply two screenshots:
Two screenshots is not the minimum but if you feel you can illustrate a component of Mario with another screenshot or two, such as a hypothetical special moment of him holding hands with Luigi, you certainly can but just always keep in mind, what's the best screenshot to illustrate this character? and keep it to a limited selection so it'll help you really filter what you have. Splendid. Sounds fair enough. As long as all galleries, involving characters and games stick to their usual topic, there can be no mixing or bloating. It seems like things are starting to get back on track here. Even though I have been spending quality time running into a stockpile of unmarked incidents, there's still hope that the Mario Wiki awaits newer content for the future, and that amateur prospects could learn the ropes on how to provide quality contributions here. Blocked user talk pages[edit]

Can you at least say please just for once? It's your duty as an admin, and nobody wants to grow too forcibly saying about it. VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 20:17, May 27, 2024 (EDT)
While I'm not in a place of authority here, it's at the administrator's discretion on how they decide to inform or enforce the rules. Super Mario RPG (talk) 20:27, May 27, 2024 (EDT)
@Super Mario RPG: Of what you said before, that was supposed to be Nightwicked Bowser's line. VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 20:29, May 27, 2024 (EDT)
I suggest reading MarioWiki:Courtesy, since one of the rules is that you cannot tell admins what to do. Quote: "Just as it is not your place to pick at the shortcomings of other users, so too should you keep your opinions about the performance of the administrators to yourself." Plural to singular[edit]

See my summary here. Don't change "(item)s" to "an item" when there are usually multiple of them in the game; you even changed plural to singular in a context where there are multiple of them in a location, which doesn't make sense at all.

Also, this falls under the "unnecessary word changes" topic above but saying an item "reprises its role" sounds odd when this term is mostly reserved for performers. Just saying "reappears (as an item/enemy/etc.)" is perfectly fine. Mario (Gold) costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 10:41, May 28, 2024 (EDT)

Mario Wiki: What Mario Wiki is not[edit]

Warning.svg
This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (Creating new policies without proposals/Staff approval, plagiarism) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site.
If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

This should've been sent to you last night, but normal users are not allowed to just outright create new policies, especially without the approval of the staff or a proposal. The page you created is also plagiarized from Wikipedia's what Wikipedia is not policy, although you just replaced "Wikipedia" with "Mario Wiki" (except for one instance as Arend pointed out). Please do not make these big changes anymore. link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 09:25, May 30, 2024 (EDT)

Can you see this link please? VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 13:46, May 30, 2024 (EDT)
What exactly is your point with that page? Bowser Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 13:56, May 30, 2024 (EDT)
I am not fighting with anyone else here on the Wiki, but, everyone is doing everything they can to assure that all pages here give the proper descriptions in a quality matter. Even though my recent doings have attracted much attention of mostly mods, there seems to be rather a resolution that needs resolving. Some screenshots do deserve their descriptions, while most characters do deserve descriptions for their appearances, especially in alternate forms. Discrimination for what any user writes in such a manner is considered a big no-no. Simply just jarring about with all this, especially if it yields an unexpected warning, hurts the overall experience by all means. VideoGamePhenomHD (talk) 14:07, May 30, 2024 (EDT)
