A category of subjects based on rodents in the Super Mario franchise. This is a diverse group of mammals with perpetually growing front teeth that necessitates gnawing on wood and other hard surfaces. In addition to mice and rats, it includes animals not always associated with the term "rodent", like beavers, gophers, cavies, porcupines, lemmings, hamsters, squirrels, and chipmunks. Superficially similar looking animals – namely rabbits, moles, and hedgehogs – are not related to rodents.
