Nobody ever assumed the Toads, or even similar characters like The Smurfs are ambiguously gendered. The only way either of those creatures would even have the slightest possibility of being female is if they’d have very distinct feminine traits, like Toadette’s skirt and pigtails, or Smurfette’s long luscious hair.
