Which kind of press kit screenshots should we add?[edit]

Press kit images have recently been made public (the emblems of the Battle Modes comes from that kit) and I'm thinking about updating the screenshots and uplaoding all the other screenshots as well, however each of them is available in two possible formats:

  • 1280 × 720 resolution BMP (would be PNG here)
  • 1771 × 996 resolution JPEG, quality 100 (the quantization matrices have only 1s), 1 × 1 chroma subsampling (a.k.a. 4:4:4)

The JPEG images have a significantly higher resolution and the compression is light, but I would like to know your opinion before choosing which kind of screenshots to upload.--Mister Wu (talk) 11:03, 23 January 2017 (EST)

The JPEG's are upscaled from the 720p versions, so they aren't of higher quality anyway. Use the BMP's (as PNG's). Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 17:10, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Head Icons[edit]

I'm curious; why did we re-upload the returning characters' head icons when they're the same as the ones from the previous game? Do we really need doubles of the same images? They're placeholder of the actual sprites, that due to the 1080p rendering resolution might have an higher resolution when compared to the ones of Mario Kart 8. When they will be ripped, it will be simpler to just replace the images and change the description.--Mister Wu (talk) 07:06, 5 April 2017 (EDT)
So will we just keep both or replace the original Mario Kart 8 ones? Sprite of Yoshi's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tails777 Talk to me!Robin's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
If it turns out that the sprites are the exact same, we will delete the same ones from the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe gallery, if they don't they will be kept separate. The Mario Kart 8 gallery is currently reserved exclusively for the Wii U version, if you want to merge the two galleries, we can discuss this point.--Mister Wu (talk) 18:25, 5 April 2017 (EDT)
No, I have nothing against the galleries being split. But yeah, I guess we'll just wait until the game is released. Thanks for clearing it all up. Sprite of Yoshi's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Tails777 Talk to me!Robin's stock icon from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Redirect shorthand[edit]

So I'm just going to ask if someone could do the fancy wiki stuff to make it so typing in "Gallery:MK8D" redirects to this page? (Gallery:MK8 leads to the MK8 gallery). Not urgent, of course, but it would be handy. MarioComix (talk) 21:35, 21 April 2017 (EDT)

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass minimaps[edit]

I was about to add the minimaps for the courses for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass but I don’t know where to put it, should I add it in the Mario Kart 8 Booster Course Pass page or here? MarioGamer119 8:33, March 19, 2022 (EST)

Fix Wave 6 Maps too[edit]

ïI don't think the tracks in the Spiny and Acorn cups are this dark in in-game. Is this an error of some kind? Compare them to wave 5 and earlier waves:

they are that dark in game - YoYo Yoshi Head (light blue) from Mario Kart: Super Circuit (Talk) 12:47, November 16, 2023 (EST)
These were changed in a recent update ForcedExcess26 (talk) 19:13, December 3, 2023 (EST)
I just checked a few courses both in-game and the files themselves and as far as I can see 3.0.1 didn't change them and they're still darker than other courses Polley001 (talk) 19:52, December 3, 2023 (EST)
